I am 2 days out from surgery. I had back pain when I woke up and still get pain in my back when I'm sipping water. Have any of you experienced this?

I had back pain while in the hospital. I think i was laying in the bed in an awkward position. I ended up spending a lot of time in a chair. That's helped a lot. I didn't experience any back pain while sipping though. Hope you pain goes away soon.

Sounds like your back muscles might be tweeked from the hospital bed. Probably will go aways as you heal at home and those muscles relax again.

I had awful back pain. In fact, my first complaint was how badly my back hurt. I was told it was the way I was positioned on the table during surgery. They sort of tilt you back plus all of the air they pump into you does not help. It passed after a couple of days.

Definitly- it's the trauma, positioning and air pumping from surg. It will pass- walking helped- but can be tough few days. TMI- but it was the first time in my life I felt like I wasn't farting enough.

The plexus of nerves in the area where you had surgery often cause referred back pain. People having gallbladder attacks often have back pain due to this. It should settle down as you heal.
