Off to Mexico for vacation

Just five days, but i'm nervous. Nervous my back won't hold up, nervous I won't be able to find the right foods. I'm bringing 5 Quest bars and 10 ostrim beef/ostrich sticks with me, just in case. Also my pain meds and my vitamins. And my TENS unit. My back hurts already and I told my husband I'd need a wheelchair for the airport because I won't be able to stand for the line.

I'm planning to spend a lot of time in the pool getting my back in shape and am hoping to do at least one excursion of some sort with the family. I'll have internet there, so will post how i'm doing, if I can.

We have ocean view apartments, so I'm looking forward to that.

Wish me luck.

Sounds like you have thought ahead and have plans in place for everything! I do hope your back holds up. As far as food, you should be able to have good protein choices in Mexico, with the fresh seafood options, etc. Try not to be too nervous, and enjoy your trip! Good luck to you!

    hi everybody,
used a wheelchair at the airport to get me to the gate and through security. My son asked the flight attendant to have one for me at Cabo. What a great surprise to step off the plane and see the wheelchair guy waiting. Got me right through immigration, then customs. He waited until I was on my transport bus. So that was easy. Had an achy night, despite all the drugs I took. Had the family bring me back their leftovers for my dinner. it was pretty late when we got in. Had some tuna steak. it was really good. Now, this morning, I sent them to the resort's mini-store to get breakfast stuff. The restaurants near here are stupidly expensive. There's a Mega - the Mexican version of wal-mart- a short cab ride away. I want them to go there and pick up stuff for the rest of the trip.

We have a kitchen here and I don't mind paying for dinner, but am not going to pay for three meals a day out. I'm trying to figure out if a gimp can manage a trip like this on her own, or if I have to have a companion. My plan for today is to get in some pooltime, then, while they're off exploring, I'll get some writing done. I'd like to explore, too, but I think that will have to wait until tomorrow. It takes time for my back to ease up and the traveling was enough for now.

On an upnote, I'm finally below 300 by two pounds to 298. Makes me feel good to see the '3' number in my rearview mirror.

Just got back from Mexico for 8 days (Cozumel). I went to GNC (there) and bought some protein powder (should have brought with me), and bought all my groceries as we stayed in a condo rather than a hotel. We only ate out 3 times in the whole week, and I ordered as I would here - eating mostly protein and produce. Mexico beach locations have the best fish, ceviches, and cocktails (shrimp, etc., not alcohol). Very healthy. Also, I ate mangoes, papaya, pineapple, and bananas for breakfast every morning with a bit of greek yogurt and organic coconut water.

I swam, scuba dove, walked around and relaxed. I lost 2 pounds last week! Best vacation ever!

Best part is that I didn't hide every time someone pulled out a camera, and even have some memory photos with me in them this time. First time in over 10 years!

Congrats on getting below 300! That was huge milestone for me! I used to travel at 386 pounds and then as I've gone lighter. You will really enjoy traveling as you continue to shrink. Enjoy your trip as much as possible and don't stress about the food. Try and be more active and concentrate on high protein options for food.
