Ok friends, I have been meeting my own personal physical challenges. Now I am going to do a mental challenge, which for me is 10x more difficult. I am not going to weigh myself for 1 month. I am having a terrible constant struggle with the scale and I am bound and determined not to let the scale win. So until Sept 10th my scale is going on a vaca. I would appreciate any help with not getting them out. Any advise/suggestion would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance. P.S. I have advise hubby of my plan so that will help.

Wow,,,great challenge. I am a slave to my scales so I certainly admire you.

I had my kids hide my scale after surgery. I know that a lot of people gain weight after surgery because of the fluids and I knew that would upset up, so I had them hide it for the first week. Of course, they are kids so they didn't hide it very well, but they put it in a place that was physically difficult for me to get. When I hit a stall, I plan to ask my ex to take the scale with her and return it the following week. My advice is to get it out of the house. Put it in your car or in your garage, anywhere that it isn't easy to get to.0

Thanks Ladies: I hope is works. Part of my reasoning was that I want to serious start getting into Kettlebell which will build muscle. We all know that muscle weighs more than fat so I did not want the scales to deter me from doing my workouts. ATX thanks for the suggestion, hubby has hidden them so I should be good. However I was always the kid at Christmas pulling back the tape on my presents.
Thanks and wish me luck, I think it will be a long month. :flowerforyou:0 -
For about the first 6 months post surgery, I would only get weighed when I went to see my doctor. I know how the scale can mess with your head and I didn't want that pressure on top of the pressure of learning a new normal. It was actually nice allowing myself to let it go like that. Now I weigh myself every two weeks for the most part, unless I am working towards a mini goal or something. Once you get over the initial scale withdrawal, I think you will feel a bit relieved to not worry about it so much! Good luck :-)0

Garber6th: Thanks for sharing, I am hoping that will be my case. That I will adjust to not having the scale and it will turn into a no "big deal" It has been messing with my head, at the beginning of the wk I am one weight near the end of the wk another. :noway: I didn't know if I was coming or going. So I used the weigh in on Saturday regardless of my weight at the beginning of the week. So saying it was frustrating was an understatement. The husband as already hid the scales, so there is no turning back now. Thanks again.0

I waited for the doc to weigh me at my first post op checkin, then only once per week after. Now that I'm in maintenance, I'm wondering if I should go to once per month, but I don't want it to becaome less of a "habit". Now if it's Saturday, I weigh. I don't want to forget and get complacent if only weighing monthly. Maybe set an appointment on my phone...0
