Yesterday was my last appointments before submitting to insurance for approval. I have lost approx 18lbs and have surpassed my personal goal of wanting to be under 245 before surgery. Both my Nut and Surgeon were pleased with my compliance and progress.
Now comes the hardest part: waiting for approval and getting my surgery date.
I am not worried about doing the pre surgery diet, which thankfully is NOT an all liquid diet, just very low carb.
HW 265
Weight at first appointment: 261
CW 243
GW 150 +/- where it feels best
It's hard to think about anything else right now. I'm a slew of excited/nervous/impatient. I am not scared of the surgery as I have had my gallbladder removed and did great under the anesthesia and in recovery.

Low carb pre op is better in my opinion. You might as well get used to living the low carb life style. None of us got obese off of steak and broccoli. The nice thing is you will save so much money on food that you can afford steak if you want it. I buy pot roast all the time now. Shrimp too!0

I was able to eat real food prior to surgery. We were on a 1000 calorie diet and they didn't care about the macro-nutrient breakdown of that 1000 calories but I chose to eat extremely low carb. It worked really well and I'm so glad I didn't have to drink shakes for FOUR weeks instead of just the two weeks post op!0

I LOVE being able to afford "premium" food now! A package of good salmon lasts me 4 meals, a small filet mignon from the meat case at least 2 meals. I've learned to embrace my "inner carnivore". Most of the bread I eat is P28, (which is a protein supplement). Pre-op, I did a couple Quest bars during the day and grilled meat for dinner to keep it hiogh protein\low carb and help with liver shrinkage and dropping the requisite weight before surgery. One thing did surprise me... They put me on bowel prep 48 hours prior to surgery but clear liquids didn't start until 24 hours pre-op. If you have similar instructions, do yourself a favour and start your clears WITH the bowel prep. Just sayin!Low carb pre op is better in my opinion.
