Looking for walking friends

Hi Ladies, nmmj

I just got the fitbit flex, and I'm looking for some friends who are using their fitbit to track mostly walking.

I'm not a runner and from what I've heard the number of steps you can earn from running and walking are quite different.

Is there any walkers out there, and how many steps a day are you hitting?

I took a little over a week off due to a huge blister on the ball of my foot, but before that I was up to averaging around 78k a week or so.

I'm a walker. I'm getting between 16k- 22k a day now that school is back in session. Walking the kids to school, 60 minutes on the treadmill, another 30 minutes on the treadmill, walk back up to school to pick them up and lastly walking with DH after dinner.

Had to take the last two days off due to illness but I should be back tomorrow. :)

About 2400/mi I think. But weekly I can't be sure as I also do aerobics and other things during the day that boosts my "steps."

ooo I am there. I just find it tricky sometimes to fit in the walking with two crazy kiddies, but where there is a will there is a way. And I WILL figure it out lol
  • Hi there! I have the Fitbit Zip and wear mine to work since I'm on my feet all day at work and reckon I actually do most of my walking there on an average day. I spend far too much time sat at my computer when I'm not at work, so I have noticed huge differences in the number of steps from the days I work and the days I stay at home. For instance, today I did a 4 hour shift, no extra walking other than a quick visit to the supermarket on the way home and I have so far "walked" 7720 steps (6.55pm here). I reckon by the end of today it will be just over 8000 steps.

According to my fitbit dashboard my daily average is 8534 steps.

I don't exercise at the moment (really need to get back into it though), but when I was working out at home (using EA Active 2) I always took off the Zip as I noticed it affected the step count drastically, and since I was logging my workout on here it would basically be adding the same exercise twice ... mega cheating lol.

I would love to have someone to "walk" with and compare step counts etc. My only real downfall is that I get bored when walking alone and none of my friends here are interested really. I have one friend who occasionally meets me at my work and we walk home together, which takes about 45 minutes, but that's only once in a while. Send me a message any of you would be interested in a virtual walking companion :)

I average around 10,000 to 11,000 per day. You might want to consider some of the community groups on the fitbit site. I joined one last month and it's been fun having others in the group to watch and talk too and be challenged by. Kinda like this site's affect on food intake. Have used this site to "log" non walking activity and have linked it to fitbit so that it gets the steps updated automatically and so that fitbit gets the calories and non walking activity from MFP.
