REALLY Irritating Commercials

What gets you and why?
Mine are the Relacore one for a start, I do NOT need Relacore first off and second off, it doesn't do what you say because somewhere in the small print at the bottom of the screen it says 'as part of a calorie controlled diet and exercise program'. And we ALL know what that means.
The other is for yoghurt. Specifically dessert flavored yogurts. You know that commercial where the guy is looking in the fridge and his wife is on the phone talking about eating apple pie and strawberry cheesecake and key lime pie.. the whole sell on this is that you can have all of these and still lose weight and that they take the place of the real thing for a lot less calories. Yeah, right.
I don't know about you guys but if I eat any of these types of foods it's not just about flavor, and the yoghurts have it SO wrong! It's about texture too, the pastry, the flavor of pastry, the crunch of graham cracker crumb case, the taste of butter, the texture of the filling.. yoghurt couldn't come close!! EVER. And I find their pushing the idea that it ever could insulting.

OMG, don't even get me started on irritating commercials. As a general rule, I LOVE commercials but there are some that just drive me insane. All of these weight loss items/places (and generally anything that has before and after pictures). If you look at the pictures, first of all the before picture is in the worst light and so far away you can barely see who the person is. The after picture is always in beautiful lighting and probably so touched up it's horrible. But the real kicker is if you really look at the two pictures, most of the time it's not even the same person. I personally know you change a lot when you lose great amounts of weight; but even after losing 200+ pounds, if you really look at my heaviest pictures you can still tell it's me.
My biggest pet peeve with commercials though are the ones for erectile dysfunction (and now you can add all the gels/creams/etc that add to sexual pleasure and the stuff for vaginal dryness after menopause). I remember taking a survey once about commercials and one of the questions was about the ED commercials. I went off. It was bad enough when they showed them late in the evening but when they started showing them all day long I went insane. Have you ever tried explaining to a 4 year old what erectile dysfunction is? Unfortunately they didn't take my advice since they are still on the tv.0 -
Has their ever been a good weight loss product commercial?
I do enjoy the before and after pictures where you can clearly tell the person is sucking it in.
It is nice to be at this point and see a weight loss add where people are saying how much weight they have lost on such and such a system and be able to think to yourself "light weight."0 -
LMAO Pat!!!!!!!!!!!! That was awesome!!0

Pretty much any commercial that goes on infinite repeat loop here annoys the tar out of me. Two in particular spring to mind.
There is one with a John Denver song "You fill up my senses... ... come fill me again." Don't know the name of it. It airs on the Ion channel, which plays all the Canadian shows. It shows a lot of mountains and stuff...I couldn't even tell you if it is a travel commercial or what have you. I just know it plays EVERY SINGLE COMMERCIAL BREAK when on that channel, and usually I'm watching a marathon or several shows in a row, so after about 2-3 iterations of the commercial, I'm ready to go postal.
The second is a local funeral home company with the director's daughter in the commercial. It almost always plays twice, back to back. At first, it was just like, "Really?" Now, my guy and I start doing the MST3K thing, if we can't get it muted or the channel turned quickly enough... "If you have a cell phone ... and who doesn't? That's your business, right? But if you use your cell phone while driving ... ... (overly dramatic pause) ... ... that could be my dad's business." This girl is 16-ish, has terribly delivery, looks like her roots need to be BADLY touched up, and it is the combination of her annoying voice, terribly delivery, and ridiculous pauses...
But yes, every male/female product (including feminine products!!!! Some of those are the WORST) is out of place and over the top anymore. Tena Twist is probably the only one that doesn't make me want to shoot the commercial - at least they got real women to do the commercial! Weight loss commercials - I **love** the ones where they are dancing so you can't make a real comparison... And weight loss video commercials, etc. Those yogurt commercials are pretty cheesy, but I'm not a yogurt fan in general (most of the time my tummy will not agree with consumption)...but I completely agree that a real dessert treat is about the entire experience. Plus, as much artificial what the heck ever they have to add to make it taste that way? No thanks! LOL
I'm sure more will come to me...0 -
I don't have cable, so I use Hulu and Netflix to get my TV fix. Hulu plays the same 3 commercials for at least 2 weeks and there's at least 3 commercial breaks each show...so frustrating. I could probably repeat whole commercials by now. Youtube plays a lot of commercials now too. I hate the no surgery gastric bypass one. It's like 3 minutes long and always seems to play when I'm exercising...it's like, come on. I'm huffing and puffing and it's all like, "You feel lonely and depressed. You've tried everything to lose weight. You've tried diet and exercise...blah blah blah." I want to throw my shoe at it.0
