2 days post op and doing fine

I think I'm getting the hang of things ... ;-)

Just having trouble trying to consume 3 11oz Premium Protein drinks:drinker: , 48 ounces of water and all the other fun stuff. Stomach is saying .."nooooooooooooooooooo ... i have a booboo" ... But hubby is chasing me down with unfinished protein telling me "you gotta get this in you, honey, please keep trying" .... lol Bless his heart.

But was able to cough and take my 30 minute neighborhood walk.

So glad to hear you're doing well! Keep sipping. It was at least a week before I was able to get 64oz of liquids in a day, so do your best. And great that you walked 30 minutes! That really helps :)

I couldn't do it either. Frankly I'm more of a savory person so I did better with protein infused chicken and beef broth I got from my surgeon's office. I also took low fat, low sodium Swanson's broth from the grocery store and added an unflavored protein powder to it. The shakes were just too sweet and thick for me. You might also try Isopure flavored water. It's really water, tastes like jolly ranchers candy and has 40+ grams of protein in each bottle. Counts for water and protein. I bought it at GNC.

Hang in there. This gets better.

I just want to say THANK YOU! for posting. Keep it up. I am having surgery at end of September and I'm sure your daily check ins are going to help me feel more comfortable with the process.

@Benagek You'll do fine. Just be aware that you will wake up the first day and ask: "What have I done?!?" lol. Its a good feeling to know that you have taken "da big step" to change your life forever and ever and ever. I mean what are your alternative, more failed diets?

One thing to remember is that after surgery you "tummy-jo" is injured ... cut & swollen. It may take a few days or a couple of weeks before she (tummy-jo) realizes that she 'ain't gonna die so get over it"! lol

I think the doctor reiterating that my discomfort, pain, and struggle to take things down all had to do with my tummy being swollen. Although I already knew that, it was reassuring to hear it again so to know that "this feeling isn't forever". I have lost 12 pounds (as of this morning) in 5 days so that's pretty reassuring that everything's gonna be alright. :-)

I want you to know that I hesitated, hesitated, and hesitated all the way to the operating room. It's normal. Like the doc would say: "What's your alternative, Josephine?" She's right! After years of yo-yo dieting and the guilt & blame feeling, at 55 this was the absolute best alternative! No more excuses!!

I could've had this surgery 7 years ago when I was with Kaiser. But after all the negative "scare tactics" they used on me, I backed out thinking "there must be another way ... a better way". So I got on the "weight-loss ala carte band-wagon" to give it another shot .... and failed miserably. Doc said something that reminded me why I was where I was and why the surgery is the best alternative ....

ME: "Doc, out of 15 kids I am the only obese one .....what a loser I am"
DOC: "How were your grandparents' weight?"
ME: Grandmother on daddy's side was pretty large"
DOC: Then blame your genes! This isn't your fault."
Doctor proceeds to tell me that she's sick of hearing people refer to the obese as a bunch of lazy over-eaters who are out of control. "Hogwash"! she'd say, "Obesity is genetic"....

ME: (thinking) "Wow .... is she right or IS SHE RIGHT!"
