I guess when a day is missed as in not logging in for whatever reason...your progress starts over? Just noticed that I have actually lost 20 pounds but my progress here only shows 19, big deal you say, what a baby you say? Maybe, but I was so looking forward to the 20 pound loss, I was suppose to be all happy and celebrating...but nooooooooo only shows 19! Well back to work. I got to get all up into this diet and exercise, only 5 months left to lose some serious poundage, I want to look GOOD next year...not getting any younger. I sure miss everyone checking in but I know you are all back to work and busy. So enjoy your holiday...and maybe I will hear from you soon. Have a Great Week.

I feel your pain of not seeing that 20 lb loss! I logged in for just about a year and went away with my husband and completely forgot one day! One day out of the year and when I came back it was all gone. My weight loss and my days logged in! I was ticked and whined all day about it. Of course, no one listened! Ha..!
So back to day one ! I'm new to the group and looking forward to seeign what it brings! I hope their is a lot of talking and good times along with the bad, too!

Hmmm...dj, your ticker still shows 20! Also, I've read that if you email through the help page they'll reset the days logged in. Regardless, you know what you've done!
We went for a long, as is 2 1/2 hour, 6 mile, up and down hills, walk this morning, so I have a few extra calories, but still hard to keep honest on this long weekend. Maybe we are all ready for a little more routine after today!
Enjoy the holiday!0 -
WELCOME ROSIE...This group was growing nicely, then September came and most of the group went back to work. I am being very bad today. And the most hilarious thing about it, is when I push that button to record my food today, it will STILL say that I am under my calorie goal. What's funny about that? I can GAIN weight and be under my calorie goal. I will get back on track tomorrow, just spending today alone and there were these snacks lying around.
Anyway, I hope to hear more from you and often as it has been lonely around here, your fresh perspective could be just what we need.
Hi Eleanor, no my ticker is right, it is that other thing that posts on the home page that isn't in sync. Which is not that big a deal. I just didn't have anything better to talk about when I logged on this morning. Wow, you are rocking out the walking. I have to get back into exercise...I have been lazy. It will not take long to start increasing my weight, so I had better get serious quick.
Hope Everyone had a Great Holiday. dj0 -
Hey Everyone! My family has left and I have a moment of peace and quiet. It was a great week with them, but non-stop cooking, washing, eating, entertaining, setting up, etc. etc. I am thoroughly exhausted. My diet went completely to hell and I feel crummy. I have re-started (once again) today and now will be into my routine with work, as well. Even though I work, I will still be here online! I will not abandon this group. I enjoy it, all the members, and the insights. Missed you all!0

Good morning, all. It's the first day of school here today. Since I spent so much time with September being the true start of the year, first as a student and then as a teacher, I always feel that the day after Labour Day is the day to get organised. For the first time this year, I haven't thought that much about school starting, so I guess I'm well and truly retired from that world; however, when I think about it, it seems like a good day to start getting back to some routine after the summer. Exercise classes, volunteering and organisations I belong to all start soon, gardens will soon need to be cleaned up and perennials reorganised, and all the wonderful produce there is right now can be canned and frozen for winter. There's lots to do! Today's tasks are to reorganise my desk, file things that I haven't all summer, clearing the decks so that I can lay out my volunteer stuff. Then, it's clean out the frig so as not to waste any of those great veggies. Tonight I have rehearsal (I belong to some musical organisations). I find it much easier to eat well and get some exercise when I'm busy and in a routine.
I hope everyone has a great day and week! What are you all doing?0 -
Hi everyone, I am new to this group and I hope to find ways to contribute to the journey we are all on. I have only been using MFP for less than a week but I love it so far. I am glad to find this group because I'm in my mid fifties and I need lots of encouragement to believe it's not too late to get into shape. My work out enthusiasm often ends up with some kind of muscle spasm from the most unexpected activities. Sunday I swam breaststroke for 40 minutes and last night my shoulder blade was complaining madly. I find it really challenging to get exercise in ways that don't lead to excessive foot pain, hip pain and now shoulder pain. Yikes.
I am looking forward to reading the posts in this group and to getting inspired by everyone's journey.
Have a great day!0 -
Welcome Riverwood9! I am also new to the group. They are a great group of people!
marsellient: That is a great idea to get organized now. I usually am a spring cleaning kind of person, but I missed it this year. It is time to clean up and find my cabinets!
I spent the weekend cleaning up my front yard. I grow iris's. They are beautiful in the spring, but by the end of summer they look pathetic. So I spent the weekend on my hands and knees clearing out the dead stuff and cutting them back so they can get ready for winter. I think it is time to thin them out and get rid of some of them (They were busy...I have a lot of baby iris's!).
Have a great week everyone!0 -
Hi JAN, So glad you had a great time with your family. Now you will have to go back to work to get some rest, lol. That is how I used to feel when I was still working and would have company on the weekend, I was always extra tired after. At least you had an excuse for getting 'off regimen', I was all alone on the holiday...therefore...No One to Blame but myself for snacking out. Then I busted my big toes open and it is too sore to exercise on. Lately it is always something...like still having 100* degree weather down here, no rain and yet high humidity. Still I AM trying to stay on diet, at least under my calorie goal, so maybe all will not be lost. Have a great start to your new work year. Glad you will still be with us here.
Hey ELEANOR, LOL you are always so busy that I did not even know that you were retired. My garden is long kaput in this heat down here, in the area small town I live in there are few and far between things to join, and not having my own transportation anymore it would be difficult to get to any. It is awesome having all that stuff to do. I just loving hearing you talk about it all. Living vicariously I know.
Welcome RIVERWOOD9, Wow you are so tan. Nothing like the glow the sun gives. I so feel your pain, with my bad back I have a lot of probs with exercise too. I was able to swim, but they closed the local pool forever, so that option is out. I have been off exercise for almost two weeks now...I hate it but now have to wait for sore toe to get better. Good Luck with your pain, I hope it will be better soon. Thanks for joining in here with us. Hope to hear from you often.
MARIE, You know if you put some of those baby iris's in little pots, you could sell them, may not be worth the hassle for you, but I know they are very popular. My hubby can't keep enough baby canna lily's around to meet the demand for them. How is your oasis? I still love that garden in the desert.0 -
DJ, I think this is the first time anyone has every said that living vicariously with me was even a remote possibility! Lmao. I did get quite a lot of my plan done yesterday. My desk looks much better, the paperwork is filed and I even rearranged the furniture in the room to give me a little more space (to collect things, no doubt!). I do keep fairly busy but I spend quite a lot of time reading, cooking, and keeping the house in order. My DH is not retired, so I do most of it. I feel very lucky to have started my career young and here in Ontario, teachers have one of the best pension plans anywhere. Mind you, if everyone put as much $$$ into their retirement as we do/did, and had the excellent management of their plan, they'd had the same. So, I'm lucky to have been able to retire when I did.
Welcome, Riverwood! I hope you are able to find some movement that doesn't cause too much discomfort. Perhaps, just take it easy? Go for a short walk?
Marie, I love irises when I see them in the spring. My neighbour has some large purple ones and keeps telling me to take some. I just might when I go out to move some things around in a few weeks.
Have a good day all.0 -
Back to work day for me. Finally. Classes begin at the college today, and this evening I will meet my first class of 35 first year students. They are still adjusting to dorm life, so they aren't so interested in academics just yet. Overwhelming for them! I am happy to be back on my diet and not feeling so full and bloated. That was not a good or healthy feeling. My motivation is my health, but an upcoming wedding is also on my mind. I don't want to be a fat mom walking my son down the aisle.
Still really hot here. I am ready for autumn, but will miss the days at the beach.
DJ, Eleanor, Riverwood, Marie, you all seem to be doing well. I envy the garden talk. I can't grow weeds.0 -
djcangel: I have never thought of putting them into a pot and reselling them. What a great idea! I usually put out a sign and tell people that I have free iris's. They are gone within the hour. You should plant some, they require little work (except at the end of the season if you have a lot like me and they multiply like rabbits!). The garden is going great. I have some cucumbers getting ready to be picked and some peppers. My strawberries are going for another round also. I should be able to pick them this weekend. I would love to be retired right now, there is so much to do around the house that boredom would never be an issue.
jangar21: that is a lot of students! I applaud you! I do not know if I would ever have that much patience.0
