Hi All,
First day on here, very excited, I was just wondering how everyones is picking the best options from the diary search to add to your day. For example I went to search for chicken breast, no skin roasted and I got so many different options with varying calories. How do I know I'm choosing right ? Don't want to be lead astray on my first day.

Most people, including myself, weigh their food and I like to use this website (http://nutritiondata.self.com) as a reference if I don't know the nutrional value of something. For the most part you should always weigh your solid foods and measure out your liquids. As a last resort I usually will pick the item that has been confirmed by a few people.0

I tend to look at a few options and go with the one that seems the most realistic and then overestimate by a little, just to be safe. If you're like most people, you'll end up having the same 20-50 staples, so it'll get easier with time. If you're losing weight, then you know you're most likely entering pretty accurate portion sizes. If not, then you'll just have to go back in and make some adjustments.
But weighing/measuring your food is ideal, especially since a lot of the food in the database is provided in grams.0 -
I usually look for USDA and the # of confirmations. Also, if you have the app, you can scan the barcode.0
