Two periods in one month? Could painful sex be to blame?

So I haven't been regular in a few years, when I was it was at about 32 days. Before my last cycle I was at like 70 days. 21 days ago I got my last cycle, now yesterday I started spotting and today it seems to be light, but constant (including little clots). I've NEVER had a 21 day cycle, should I be worried? Especially if it doesn't continue? My husband and I tried to have intercourse Sunday morning, but it was too painful for me (my poor hubby has to deal with a lot of hormonal crap from this, but this takes the cake!) so we had to stop. It literally felt like scraping on the inside even though he made sure I was 'ready' first.... I can't imagine this new bleeding would be related, but 21 days for a cycle just seems so short!
