NFL Nutrition

If you're like me, your plans are to sit on your butt for at LEAST three hours on NFL Sundays.

Instead of chips and beer, recommend to your other teammates other creative NFL watching snacks.

Yesterday was tough for me! My entire family gets together almost every week to watch the Steelers play .. we always we have snacks and a meal and then dessert. Fortunately, we are all trying to get a little bit healthier this year, so this year we had:

Shrimp w/ cocktail sauce ( 5 calories and 1 gram of protein in each one of these little buggers!)
    whole wheat scoops with salsa
    veggie tray
    fruit tray

It was great! We did have pizza for our meal .. but my mother had a whole wheat crust option, one with tons of veggies and then your basic cheese.

She made cup cakes (it was also my brothers birthday) instead of having huge pieces of cake.

I skipped breakfast, we were eating at 1:00 when the game started and I didn't get up till 10:30 so it wasn't really a big deal .. lol and still managed to stay within my calories! Yay!

Watching football without food just doesn't seem natural yet. So, I had a couple of the Pop Secret 100 calorie bags and...a popsicle! I felt completely satisfied. Total snacks during football day was 240 calories. Compared to last year, where I was probably hitting 800-1000 calories by stuffing my face full of chips, salsa, cheese, and tons of beer!
