Hat vs. Visor vs. Sunglasses

I'm just wondering what everyone uses when running outside on a sunny day. Do you wear just one of the above three, or a combination? Also, do you have any suggestions of brands/models of hats/visors/sunglasses? Thanks for the help!

I wear sunglasses when its sunny. I usually only wear a hat if it is rainy to keep rain out of my face. A hat makes me too hot otherwise.

I wore a straw hat for a race as a joke; I actually liked it! Kept the sun off my face and ears! I always wear sunglasses if the sun is out.

Just sunglasses. I have a hat but even though it's intended for running I feel too hot with it on. Haven't tried a visor.

Nike featherlite cap in summer, I found sunglass bounce and get really uncomforatble.

    Beanie in winter

Hat always - great for sun or rain, keeps the sweat and my fringe out if my eyes. I find sunglasses either bounce of my nose and irritate me or start to hurt somewhere after an hour or so. The only time I would really like them is on sunny days when the pavement is wet - the reflection from the ground hurts my eyes!

As for type of hat, I wear a running cap from Adidas - super lightweight and washes and dries well.

I wear Glasses, so my running glasses are also sunglasses. On hotter days or rainy days I wear a running hat, ball cap. It helps keep the seat from dipping in my eyes or the rain off my glasses.

I wear a hat only when its raining, usually I wear a lulu lemon headband, i find it absorbs my sweat better and i get less salt in the eyes! I never wear sunglasses either...i guess the sun just doesnt bother me, i'd rather have nothing on my face to be honest

Almost always wear a peaked running cap. Before I began doing so I was concerned it would make me hot, but it's breathable and I don't feel any discomfort.

Aside from keeping rain off the face in the wet and sun out of the eyes during the 2 weeks of English summer, I also find that it acts as a bit of sweatband and keeps the sweat out of my eyes. This has probably become the main benefit for me.

One slight negative, when running 2 hours or more, the cap does get pretty wet (sweaty) and the benefit stops. I intend having someone swap it out for me half way thru my marathon next month.

Hat. Does many things. Keeps rain out of my eyes. Sun out of my eyes. Sweat off my face. Good stuff. Though I look like a moron in a hat :)

    Hat only if it's raining.
    Sunglasses always.
Visor if I'm ever an Ironman finisher.

Hat in the rain, or for runs where I know that my run will outlast the sunlight so sunglasses just become something I have to carry.

    Sunglasses for daylight runs.

    No to visors.

In the cooler temperatures I wear my Buff as a headband/ear warmer, or around my neck/mouth. . . when it's really cold but still sunny, I wear my sunglasses under my balaclava.

Pretty much always wear a hat. That way my bald spot doesn't get sunburned. I have prescription running glasses that darken in sunlight; I wear those all the time unless it is raining; then I wear contacts. But I still wear the hat.

edit: Oh, and suggestions: I like Brooks running caps, and my running glasses are Rudy Project Horus -- I believe you can get them as "just sunglasses" as well. There is never any problem with bounce or sliding off with these glasses.

None of the above a hat sometimes if it's raining or I'm having a bad hair day. It's about just running and getting it over...lol

For my last race (see profile picture) I wore a ball cap with sunglasses (bought from dollar store). Over the weekend I got a head lamp and now wear that each morning or night with same ball cap. Other than that, I went bare.

I should switch out my ball cap because it is starting to get pretty moist when worn every day.

I don't wear any of the above. I really should wear my spectacles more though, probably I'd not get lost if I do..

Sunglasses are as required as my shoes are on all but the dreariest days.

With over 300 days of sunshine in Colorado, I pretty much always run with sunglasses unless it's raining out (which is very rare).

I am not a hat person - but I do wear a visor a lot of the time as well - I've found it helps keep my sunglasses from falling down my nose, haha.

As for brand, I really like the "headsweats" visor I just bought recently - it's got a built-in thin sweat band along the front which is nice and supposedly you can throw them in the washer and they won't lose their shape (but I haven't tried thatyet).

I wear a bandana religiously along with sunglasses couldnt imagine running w/o them...I like the bandana to help with the sweat rolling down my face ((life saver)...so bummed when I forget it

Got some awesome sunglasses from REI that don't bounce and will even stay on the top of my head if I don't need them. We get a lot of bugs on the trails here, so I usually wear them even if it's not sunny. It seems like a hat or visor would be annoying.

I wear a hat most of the time b/c my hair is very fine and my scalp burns. I wear either a Brooks hat or one from REI. I thought they would make me too hot, but they seem to be fine. I don't think I've run in anything hotter than 90 degrees, though. Both these hats are made with wicking materials. They fit my head right, and hold my hair up in a pony-tail (not all hats fit the same). My teenaged son thinks I look really good in hats - I never wore them before running. The biggest thing for me in not overheating is that I need to keep my shoulders bare - unless it's under 35 degrees out. I will get arm sleeves this year to wear with my tanks b/c I spent too much time last winter pulling my long-sleeved tops off before I had gotten a mile into my runs.

I also wear sunglasses. If you get them to fit right, they shouldn't slip around too much. I put them on my cap if I don't need them, or attach them to my waist somehow. I wear them on most runs b/c I want to protect my eyes.

I wear contacts with a pair of Oakley Radars I picked up in the sale. they are very comfy, don't bounce around and I've even found when I was doing a trail run that went into a woodland and got gloomy that I can push them to the top of my head and they stay in place. They also have some sort of coating that means water runs off quicker.
