Can't lose weight after recovery

So I'm 16 years old, around 5'3 and am currently working as an apprentice chef.

When I was 14 years old I developed anorexia, dropping to my lowest weight of 33kg from a weight of 46kg.
In July 2013 I decided to start recovery, and started to increase my intake. However, I was still
Very restrictive only eating around 1000 calories a day. I slowly gained weight, but not a lot. By Christmas time however anorexic thoughts were strong and all I saw was fat. So I cut my intake even more. I started eating less and less, but on the odd day when I had my friends round we would consume large amounts of chocolate and sweets. Gradually I cut my intake even more, only eating an apple and small portion of dinner each day. I them went on a course in February for a week at a restaurant and during that week I ate copious amounts of food, especially when I got home in the evening. During this week I felt
Horrible and like I had gained so much so I decided to cut back when I got home. This just led me to gain
More weight! I then decided that my metabolism was suppressed so I needed to eat more so with the help of my mum we decided to start upping my calories, to around 1500 a day. However I then gained so much (now around 56kg)!
My stomach is huge. I have fat upper arms and fat thighs. However my ankles and wrists are still very skinny?
Clothes shopping is impossible because nothing fits and I just feel so fat an disgusting all the time!
I am currently following a low carb, high protein diet and I work as a chef 40 hours a week.
I don't know where this weight has come from and how to lose it, or if it is because my metabolism is still supressed because I didn't recover on 2000+ calories? Or if my body will even out and settle down to its ideal weight after time?

Please can someone help me as I am so distressed with how my body looks!

Thankyou xxxxxx

  • I would advise seeking help forma nutritionist. I don't know how others here feel but if I could tell someone how to properly gain / eat I don't think I would be suffering from my ED :P

That being said I am hoping the best for you as I am in a similar situation. I found out I was pregnant abotua month into recovery and through the duration of the pregnancy put on 7 kg. Well I had my son about a month ago and dropped 2 kgs above my pre-pregnancy weight and now its just like my ED is back in full gear....

I think that seeking help from a qualified team will help with the weight loss part, but also the mental part. Honestly, if you lose weight via ED again then we all know how that goes your body will get to the point that your metabolism is shutting down. Talk with your mum or other supportive people and see if they would be willing to help you find a team?
