Waiting game, only waiting isn't very productive.

So, last appointment with dietician was Friday. Now for the waiting game. I am looking to do surgery early December so Dr's office is waiting until mid-October to submit to insurance. While it is a waiting game, I don't want to think of it as such. I am glad for the additional time because I am still working on head stuff that I think really needs to be addressed prior to surgery. Will keep working on protein and veg, daily exercise, water, etc as well as addressing emotional reasons for why obesity is such a comfortable place for me. I have been going to my surgeon's monthly support group and that is good, but looking forward to starting a 6 week group program through the therapist's office. Haven't actually done any one-on-one therapy but thinking I might need to. Of course, there is no extra time for any of this but if I can't make time for this now, doesn't bode well for long-term success.

I really feel that doing a lot of work before surgery helps you to be successful after surgery. I saw a therapist for a year before I even decided to have surgery just to make sure I had the "head stuff" under control. It helped immensely. I still see my therapist because life post-surgery is so full of changes. I still go to support groups too, and I can see that being a part of my future indefinitely.

You should be so proud of yourself for recognizing the things that need to be addressed and facing them head on. You are being proactive and that speaks volumes - it shows you committed to making this work, and you WILL make it work! Well done!
