In what week did you change your MFP goal to gain?

I've been thinking about switching to gain +0.5lbs a week starting at week 16 (I was overweight before I became pregnant, and have been at maintenance since I found out), but I'm sort of wondering if I should do it earlier.

Any thoughts?

What are all you ladies doing? Are you still logging?

Hi there! I am 22 weeks and have already gained about 9lbs. First of all, it is totally normal to not gain, or even lose weight, the first trimester, which is what I did. The Doc told me to only gain ~15lbs so I haven't changed my goal to "gain" yet since I have been gaining without that as my goal. I figure if the doc ever tells me my weight gain is too fast (or slow... haha yeah right) then I will adjust from there. One thing that helped me know how much to gain by what week was a pregnancy weight gain calculator (you can google this). You put in your starting weight and then it tells your your goals, by week, and total weight gain (which was the same as my doc told me!). I am logging, but not as dedicated as I probably should be! Good luck!

I just manually set my calories to 1900 calories. I do go over some days, but I'm not terribly worried about it. As long as baby is healthy and my OB says everything looks good, I'll keep it there until I hit the 3rd trimester, when I'll probably add 200ish calories. I'm 23 weeks and have gained 7 lbs, so I'd say I'm right on track so far.

I manually added 100 calories in the beginning, then set it to gain .5lbs around 9 weeks because I was so hungry! I've gained probably 12-13lbs and am 20 weeks pregnant so on the higher end but I did start out at 109lbs. I will probably gain 35 lbs, which is how much I gained with my first.

I just manually changed my calories in. MFP doesn't know my maintaining calories or gaining calories. Its just an estimation. I have been logging for 3yrs to know what my numbers are. My maintaining calories are 1500, I have my calories set at 1700, I go over but never have I gone under, I'm way to hungry for that. LOL if, I eat 1900 I will gained like 3lbs a week (been there done that) I seem to be working out okay at 1700 now that I am strictly logging again. I have been eating more wholesome foods which make me hungry faster but are less in calories, its working out fine now. I am over 25wks and gained 22lbs-ish. It was more earlier in the week, but l started logging on a daily basis Monday because I gained like 8lbs in a couple weeks timeframe. Went down 2lbs since logging cause of all the bloat and extra sodium I was holding on to from crappy and unhealthy eating. I expect it to go down a little more since it was such a big jump in a short period of time and now that I'm back on track, should be good. sorry for rambling. LOL i'll most likely change my goal to 1800 once I hit my 3rd tri :)

I'm 12 weeks and up about 1.5 lbs. that seems right since I've been eating maintenance but go over sometimes. I think for the second trimester I might add 100 cals, then another 200 in the third trimester

I started out overweight this time. So I set my goal to maintain. I usually throw up 20-100 times a day. I lost 4 lbs, but have gained 2 back. I will probably maintain until the last 4 weeks and then I will go up around 5 lbs and lose 3 lbs right before birth (this is my 4th, I have lost 5 lbs the week I had every child so far). Knowing my pattern for pregnancy, I am going to keep my calories at maintain. If I were at my healthy weight like I was with my 1st child, I would consider putting them at a slow gain--but being overweight, I don't think it is necessary for me. My doctor knows my history and knows that my weight gain stays low and gets lower. My babies are always healthy and he is happy with how I do it.

Talk to your doctor. He may not want to have you change your calories. Especially those of you gaining all baby weight on the maintain goals.

Edit to say I'm 17 weeks.
