So kinda blew it yesterday. Mondays I have a treat in the evening but yesterday went on the rampage a smidge and ate about 3100 calories.

But how do I know its 3100 calories. Well I still chose to log it so I could look back and think DAMN, that isnt going to happen again for a while (Cannot hand on heart say never again).

Today have burned 1214 calories in exercise so should be going someway to rectifying it

Totally a win. I don't know what you calories are set at - or how aggressive your weight loss goals, are, but remember that you have to eat 3500 OVER MAINTENANCE - yes, over your maintenance number, not your weight loss number, to gain a pound. So if you continue to stick to your calories the rest of the time, add a bit of exercise here or there during the week, you will likely catch up.

    I count numerous wins:
    1) you acknowledged the overage...owned it.
    2) you tracked it - fully, baldly, painfully tracked it
    3) you accepted the hiccup and moved on
    4) you are working in a bit more exercise to help compensate
    5) you didn't give up - but fought back harder today!!!
    6) you posted it publicly so that you can't go hide the guilt in a little cubby hole to fester and derail you at a later date...

and let me just day, DAMN!!! 1214 calories? What on earth did you do???

So yeah, overall, this isn't just a win, this is a massive win comprised of several smaller wins against the ridiculous mental war we are all fighting!!

    You rock!!

Thankyou for the lovely post its totally lifted me :)

I'm currently weighing in at 243.5 down from 270 before the summer. I am currently set to 2lb per week which gives me 1510 cals a day. Once Ive lost 4 stone and am about 15-4 I am going to drop to 1.5lb per week then down to 1lb etc. Am totally trying to do this the slow and sensible way.

As for the 1214 cals I walked 4.3km this morning at a speed of 11.27mins/km and a total of 48mins 58. Burned 504 for that according to Map My Fitness. Then did the gym tonight. 15 mins on the arm cycle and stationary bike for 125 calories followed by a circuit of the weights machines lifting 20-90kg for 3x10 reps a set depending on the machine and muscles used (I suck at shoulder work so its 20kg but Ive got big powerful nurses legs so those sets were 40-90kg). Gave me 579 calories for 40 mins. Plus 6 calories from my fitbit (LMAO). I suspect both fitbit and map my fitness inflate the burn totals but I dont eat back my exercise calories so Im not over worried. Even if I only burned half what it said thats still 600 so I am really pleased with today.

Well done on your weight loss by the way. I can only dream of the day I hit 75lb down (that day will see me in the 1's as well, also a distant dream for now). How long have you been doing this?

I've been playing cat and mouse with the same 10-15 pounds for a few months, now, to be honest, but I'm still in the game, and i"m kind of embarrassed to admit, I've just now got enough of my fighting spirit back to try again. Today is my first full day of tracking in MONTHS! I'm not quite sure how to answer your question accurately, so I'll give you the short of it...

If you can see my pictures, the one in the green tee-shirt is my heaviest - and I was between 335-350 lbs. I am 5'4" tall, so I was almost as wide as I was tall. Utterly ridiculous. Anyway, those pictures are in 2010, I believe. Somewhere between there and 2011, I slowly got down to 300. Changed some medications, separated from now ex-husband, etc.

In 2012, I woke up and decided I was living my life for me, my ex was gone (by my choice, etc.), and I joked that I lost a 260 pound weight off my back and lost 50 pounds in 6 months. Most of it was from March to June. I just started eating more veggies, paying attention to what I ate, drank more water, and walked on breaks at work. I guess when you are that obese, some of the weight comes off easier. I was much more active just in general. (This is my profile picture.)

I maintained for a bit, then slowly creeped back up to 272 this February, when I started a challenge at work just for the fun of it... I got down to 245 or so after the challenge had wrapped, then hit a mental brick wall at the end of May. I've been going up and down for a while, some periods of time longer than others, but I think I finally am back on track, mostly, as I've got finances going against me at the moment as far as fresh veg and all....

Love the 6 cals from FitBit!! All I'm doing right now is walking and a plank challenge. Since you use FitBit, you might enjoy FitRPG - it is kind of a hack and slash game based off of the tracking. Kind of slow, but it is a start up app, and someone here turned me on to it!

Yes, unless you are using an HRM, there is some over-inflation and fluctuation in the calorie burns, and I know you said you don't eat back your calories, but make sure you aren't at too much of a deficit, as you could end up burning muscle for fuel, and stalling your metabolism. Sounds like you've got a good start/smart head on your shoulders, though, so ... :)

I'm glad you felt better reading my post. I'm annoying cheerful, I've been told, at least for others... While you may admire my overall loss, I admire your current fitness regime. It is my PLAN to work up to that type of level again!

    Have a good one,

I think it's a win. I have the hardest time logging the days I binge or party or go way over. It's so important to accept that days like that are going to happen, but also to see the "damage" that's been done so you can use it to support decisions that help you not do that again. It's a part of life and you burned most of it off anyway.

I've also found that our mind tends to over exaggerate the "damage" sometimes, so sometimes we get ourselves worked up, convinced we've eaten 10000 calories and gained 3-5 pounds when the reality is that we've only gone over 2000 calories and gained nothing if we keep to our lower cal schedule the rest of our week...

I try hard for accountability, and honestly, I've been kind of hiding since I'm finally moving in a positive direction. But, I think this time is different. I usually bomb myself as soon as I acknowledge any type of success, but I am breaking that cycle. I posted a blog today about motivation/determination...and it has really stuck with me.

    Determination is where I'm headed...

    Hugs to all,
    Carly

Well done on getting back to logging it's easy to let it slip. You have made an amazing start the rest will follow. The big change I made was getting back to the gym. I've been struggling with depression for two and a half years and been on a **** ton of different meds and back and forwards to the psychiatrist. They finally found a combo that works but I gained six stone in the interim. Now my mood is stable and ive joined the gym I've found its doing me so much good to work out regularly. It gives me a great feeling, helps my self esteem and mood and mostly I eat better because.I don't want to blow all my hard work. Im currently swimming twice a week and hitting the gym two to three times a week lifting weights. Am also reading up on calasthenics with a view to starting that and running so I've got a well rounded regime. Haven't worked out yesterday or today as I've been sick with a stomach bug and couldn't eat anything for twenty four hours so hoping to feel better and get back to it tomorrow as I get.antsy when.I don't work out. Thankyou to both of you for lovely replies. Made me realise a slip up is ok as long as you don't let it derail you

Yes. As long as you don't quit the overall war, a slip-up or lost battle here or there is part and parcel of the whole gig. Sorry you've been under the weather! Hope you feel better soon.

I would love the luxury of a gym. Challenges at home are my current bailiwick!

For me, the key, ironically, has been finding a way to caffeinate and start my days coherently and alert, which isn't easy for me since I'm a natural night owl with an early morning job, and sleep issues... It seems the days I start out right, the rest of the struggle isn't as difficult.

I did struggle to justify the gym at first but yknow Im not spending 75 a month on takeaway anymore and am saving about 40-50 a week on food shopping now I meal plan and weekly shop rather than wandering the shop daily throwing crap into the basket so 35 is virtually a saving. I've just used some spare money as well to buy a block of personal trainer sessions. You may have email my husband to lift me off the sofa next tuesday!

I am currently having a read on calisthenics which can be done at home and is meant to be great for fat burning/defining/building strength. My dream is to achieve a pull up lol
