Been having some mouse anomalies so for the second week in a row lost a big post to start this out with while spell checking.
So Docs Appointment went well with good numbers on most stuff (testosterone is not back yet but I fairly sure it will be in a good range) PSA 2.43, HDL 45, LDL 140 (little high but all in all OK) they did not measure small particle ldl. HbA1c 6.0 so Glucose good to go. Can't remember the insulin number but in a good range, White cell count a little high but normal for folks with chronic pain. She was very interested in how I manage my pain with out meds since I keep refusing offered prescriptions. her comment after looking at some of my films was I have a skeletal structure that has some folks in wheel chairs and she would be interested in having me talk to patient groups on how I manage it, and not only walk around but do the exercising I do. Given me something to think about not sure I know how to quantify it for others.

Speaking of which having to deload this week. I have some unusual pain in my central back, its muscle related. Problematic when I am sitting for any duration. painful to keep good sitting posture inflammation pushes my shoulders forward and down. Was a tough decision since I thoroughly enjoy my Dead lift day, and will be in training next week so it will be two weeks without lifting. But my body pays my brain to make the hard calls.

Hope all is well with all of you. Are we still doing the Hangout?

    Keep on Jammin' Folks.

Hi all, I haven't been on here for a while.
Yes John, how are you managing pain without RX?

Didn't do well on low carb this week, but had a fun week. Went to a corporate concert on Treasure Island. Aerosmith, macklemore, open bar, free food, free carnival. Had a blast!

Yes, do let us know if you are still doing a hangout, Arturo is under the weather and might not make it but I might

Oh crap I forgot about doing a hangout tonight. My wife just got back in town after 3 weeks gone so we have been catching up this weekend. Could we do a hangout next Sunday? Sorry all!

John good for you for doing it without meds. I got off all of mine, the meds are worse than the problems. Of course pain meds never worked much for me.

Glad you did not get sick Heronh. We had a nice weekend.

I made a doctors appointment for in the morning. My knee has really been bothering me. I'm hoping maybe a cortisone shot will do the trick. It worked really well for my hip when I was having pain.

Heron Glad the bug bypassed you and bummer for Arturo I had it a couple weeks ago and it was not fun.

Well I see they still have not enabled email notification. Such a basic thing to do on a forum like this. At least they say it is coming.

Anyhow my appointment was disappointing. The pain in my knee is because I have no knee, it's bone on bone. He said if I were 60 he would recommend knee replacement but I'm really young to have this much wrong and should wait as long as I can. He did give me a steroid shot that helped tremendously but those wear off of course. I hope it will give several months of use though.

Howie, I feel you. I've been told that by 3 doctors . My knee used to be a lot worse, it was getting to the point where Arturo can hear the grind when I have to use the stairs and it hurts. Then I found out about green lipped mussels, I saw the drastic improvements on my female dog with bad hip and started taking them. After 6 months, Arturo can't hear my knee anymore, I can still feel and hear it but it has improved dramatically for me, I can do a lot of high impact stuff that I couldn't before and I get to heels again. So yay! I'm glad the cortisol shots helped. I try incorporating a lot of anti inflammatory food and spices in my diet as well and so far i haven't had any bad joint pain.

I have never heard of green lipped mussels. Is there a brand you recommend? I'm assuming you take it in supplement form.

Okay, I hate change... so not thrilled with this layout! LOL

Heronh - I would be interested in more information on green lipped mussels as well. I am still having knee issues and I managed to tweak my knee on Sunday (at mile 9.5 of a 10 mile run) and it's hurt since. I noticed on Sunday night I can really hear it creak and crackle when I stretch.

Hmrjmr - Have fun this weekend!

Howie - Hope your knee is doing better!

I made it through my 21 Day Sugar Detox and I have to say, it's made a huge a difference. Well, so far... I haven't had the cravings and I'm still going without sugar and sweeteners. My friend made me Paleo Chocolate Chip Cookies (with maple syrup and almond flour) and they were awesome! The best part was, I ate one and was able to put the rest away for later. I could never have done that before! Really hope I can continue without going back to the way I was eating before.

Going to be a challenging weekend. My husband, Scott, and I are going to Denver for the weekend, and this will be my first trip out of town and doing Paleo. Luckily Scott has been totally on board with the Paleo (and the detox madness) and is great about making healthy choices when we are out and about. Will just have to follow his lead!

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Howie here is a link in amazon for the green lipped muscle I'm thinking I may try it as well, Osteobiflex has helped a fair bit but the n=1 continues so may give it a go.

Hmrjmr - Thanks for the link! May have to look into that. So tired of the knee pain... of course if I would do my stretches more regularly, I might not have as many issues.

Little disappointed today because I weighed in and was up about a pound. I think I have come to a crossroads of sorts. I am 6 to 11 pounds overweight (depending on which chart, graph, or random BMI that you look at), but I feel good, mentally and physically. So, I have to decide if I'm truly happy with the way things are now, the way I eat, the feel, the way I look... then try to maintain this weight. It's 7 pounds above the weight I would personally like to be, but I'm not sure counting calories, limiting my food intake and constantly obsessing it the way I want to live my life just to reach a certain number on the scale. I like the freedom that Paleo gives me. I eat healthy foods, I don't have to track calories, and it's teaching me to listen to my body for hunger cues, eating when I'm hungry and stopping when I'm satisfied.

Just a lot to think about on Thursday morning!

Stacy, I personally think you can throw those charts out the window. You do have to think about what you can live with and how you feel. If that is 11 lbs over what the charts say then so be it. Don't beat yourself up. Find a spot where you are healthy and happy and maintain that.

I finally after all summer have made it to the 280s. I hit 289 this morning and I sure hope it does not take me as long to get to the 270s. LOL

Hi guys, so here the one I take http://m.vitacost.com/products/foodscience-of-vermont-sea-mussel
I love vitacost I buy supplements, food, beauty and household product from them because they are soooo much cheaper as well as No tax and free shipping! If any of you guys want I have a refer code for $10. I buy my turmeric and boswella (anti inflammatory great for joints when I know I'm doing something harder than my usual routine) turmeric has a lot of other health benefits as well. Also I've heard great things about Great Lakes gelatin, I'm going to try that next.

Stacy, I agree with Howie, it took me years to not let the numbers on the scale define me. So don't let those numbers win! according to charts I think I'm in the obese range... Ha! Well, Have fun on your trip and congratulations for finishing the sugar detox!

I'm pretty sure Kira my older dog is "high" she had surgery and had to spend the night at the hospital. She had an epidural, is on some narcotic painkillers and she is very sensitive to anesthesia so now she is acting weird, has glassy eyes and the missing patches of fur due to being shaved at the vet's on different part of her body is adding to her looking even more weird.
Oh and Rosie our young dog have an appointment at the eye center( I was very surprised that there is an eye center with branches! Existed) to have cysts on her eyelid freeze off. This has not been a good year for us in regards to our dogs. On the bright side, Rosie has insurance so I hope it will work out.
It's crazy how many vet specialties there are in the Bay Area. Root canals, stem cell therapy and very sophisticated oncology centers.
