Local Runs

Options
Have you done any local runs or plan on doing any?? Well for me...I did the Warrior Dash when it was here last year and I'm considering doing it again this year. I also am scheduled for the GroundHog Day 10K! My best friend and I are training for it together...It will be both of ours 1st 10K & the coolest part about it is that it is completely underground! Fun right?

My best friend and I have been trying to do a 5K a month. We started with the Rivalry Run, then the Dot-to-Dot, and we just did the Monster Dash. We haven't picked one out yet for November, but it's hard with the holidays and vacations. We might have to skip this month. Next month, though, I think we're looking at doing the Jingle Bell run in the caves. I love that you're getting the KCAP together!

Ran Topeka to Auburn last year. It was cold and pretty painful. I hurt my knee in the middle of it but still finished it. Great run and was fun. I also ran Wadel and Reed Half Marathon last year. Just a few 5 and 10ks this year. I am military and gearing up for a Deployment to Afghanistan next spring. This 10k underground sounds real neat going to look this one up. Post a link to site or sign up. Not in the area but getting a team together for the The Bataan Memorial Death March. Also currently 5th in points for my age group for the Manhattan Running Store race serious. Everyone here please add me so I can keep posted on all local events.

Did anyone run the Rukus Race last weekend???

The Jingle Bell run sounds fun! I'm three weeks from fisnishing C25K, so that would be a great goal to work towards... Earlier than my current goal of Warrior Dash in May of 2012, haha. I will have to keep it in mind

Yes, there is a Sprint 5K Thanksgiving Day run, I am signed up to do this one - http://www.sportkc.org/sportkc.aspx?pgID=866&event_id=352

I am thinking of doing the Jingle Bell run but have not yet signed up for it.

Oh! I am also contemplating my first half marathon at the Burns & McDonnell Rock the Parkway in April 2012, http://www.rocktheparkway.com/

Just signed up for the Jingle Bell 5k! I'm reeeeally excited. I've never done a race before. It will really make me stick to my C25K program through our moving process (moving up to KC at the end of next week!). I think my cousin and sister-in-law might run with me. Maybe I can get some other friends too :)

You'll do great! Don't be intimidated! Lots of people walk 5ks, even if you walked the whole thing you wouldn't look out of place. Just go and have fun. Races are terrific motivators.

I'm doing the Gobbler Grind half next weekend (after having the flu all this week, ick!!) and I'd like to do Topeka to Auburn as well as the 10 miler in Wyandotte Park. Bit intimidated by the latter though, I've never gone that far on trails.

I am doing the Ward Parkway Thanksgiving Day 5K Run/Walk... I almost signed up for the Sprint one, but then I saw that I could opt for a 10" pumpkin pie instead of a race shirt. So now I can run my 5K and take home desert for the family!

The Groundhog Run in January is really neat too, I've done it the last two years. Hospital Hill is always my favorite KC race though. It's simply the best, from set up, to race support, to goodie bag.

    Happy running, all!

I know it's early, but I wanted to get this done before the price went up at the end of December... I just registered to run the Rock the Parkway Half Marathon in April!!! (still nervous about that distance, but I am getting better at my 6mile runs already... so perhaps by April the half won't seem such a hurdle  )

Bumping this one back up to the top since it's been a few months!
Here's an interesting site with some of the upcoming races. I'm signed up for the St Patty Day 4 mile run. Thinking about adding another few for April and June. And I'm totally doing the Jingle Bell run next year...

I would love to do the Comando Run! I'm afraid though... I don't think there is any way I could be ready by march.
