I just wanted to create a group for trail runners to unite to share their questions and experiences. Please feel free to invite your new running friends as well. This is also a place for discussing running in general.

Have fun.

  • I'm joining this because I am seriously interested in trail running. I've dabbled in it a bit and would love to learn anything and everything about it.

    Thanks dude!

I am not much of a runner, but when I do, I certainly prefer trails. Treadmills suck the life out of me and traffic is loud and annoying. Thank you for starting this.

Thanks for the invite! More of a road runner myself but I do love trails. :)

I may be among the worst runners out there, but I do enjoy running outside, and even more so on a trail.

I live in a beautiful area, and need to take further advantage of the trails I have within easy access of home. I'm spoiled with the Bonneville Shoreline Trail (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonneville_Shoreline_Trail) practically out my back door.

Looking forward to learning some tips and tricks, and motivating one another.

I'm Kate. Happy to join this group. I love to run on trails, but generally only get to do it on weekends, 'cause of work schedule. Would like to do more, and also try some off road races.

Hi everyone! I do like running my trails, although many times I have to settle for pavement.
Most trails I run are in our county park system and are actually geared for Mtn Bikers. They are snakey, narrow and can be filled with rocks & roots. We don't have giant hills around here, but lots and lots of small steep ones.

    Hi I'm Chris,

I'm living in the Yorkshire dales, England. Trails, hills & heath land in every direction, nothing too high, but great for running & biking.

People talking about falling in the mud, and critters. This is my kind of place.

I ran a trail 10K this past August (it was at night). I had so much fun training, and running that event that I'm just not that interested in road races anymore. I mean, I'll run on the road because that's what's there, but if I have the time or opportunity I'll find a trail. I live in Kansas, most of my running is done on dirt roads..which depending on the season and weather can be trail like.

I'm eyeing a 10 Mile trail race in Feburary, so that's what I'm currently training for. That's my trail running experience, but I'm gung- ho to experience more. I have some questions, but I'll get to those later.

I love this group already! Road running destroys the soul....

Unfortunaely I'm recovering after an itb injury so I'm limited to road running at the moment, as soon as the distance comes back without any reaction, I'll be back on the hills and trails, I'm supposed to be doing a 27.4 mile trail "marathon" with 2000ft of climbing, in January, its touch and go at the moment whether I pull out of it.

I'm a member of a running club which has a very active fell running section, we go running up the side of big hills at night with head torches in winter, and I'm missing it like crazy.

Good to meet you all! :)

I'm a trail turtle myself--and I love the BST!! Nothing quite like the Wasatch mountains!

I didn't start 'running' until a year ago. Was always a walker/hiker. But my need to amp up my exercise led to jogging, and once I started on the trails, the roads just never could compare. A 5K on the road takes forever, but an 8K on the trails is a blast....even if I'm slow.

I love the Wasatch trails...and in the winter, I snowshoe! (Yes...you can run in those, too ;)

While I'm still a relatively newbie runner... I'm completely intrigued with trail running. I haven't done it yet, but now that I finished my first half marathon (and loved it) I know that's the next thing I want to try. Becoming an athlete at a later age was never something I saw myself doing, but I'm loving this new life and want to live it to the fullest... so why not get dirty??? I'm hoping to do a 100k relay called Dances with Dirt next fall.... sounds absolutely amazing to me!!!!

I too am new to the running world. We live in an area that has Cross Country trails at what is known as the "Winter Sports Complex" In the winter they are ski and snowshoe trails, but are nice running trails the other three seasons. I have never actually ran on these trails because I am terrified to run on them alone. Something about running in thick woods...and the boogie man getting me.... I really should check to see if there is a local group that would take me under their wing. I ran my first 5k this summer and was elated to finish in a better time than what I was hoping for. Road running is just sort of there. It is better than the treadmill, but I am just so bored with the same route that I run every time. Looking to shake it up a little. I look forward to learning some tips....I'm worried about cold wet feet come winter. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated :flowerforyou: Thanks for starting this group!!

Smartwool socks! (Or any merino wool trail sock--Costco has some good ones.) Wool keeps your feet warm--even when they get wet.
A Gore-tex lined (waterproof) trail shoe also will keep the water out.

I asked for these for Christmas!! Looking forward to using them on those same CC trails! I do have the marino wool socks, I just need to invest in a good waterproof running shoe...I assume you can get a trail shoe as a runner as well. Thanks for the suggestions!

Just found the group... very cool!

I do mostly road running, just because it's more convenient, but I like trail running better for almost every other reason. Hoping to do an Xterra triathlon next summer, so trail running will be a big part of my training.

I am sitting here friend requesting people that I see on this forum and then I thinks "it is probably easier to say hello and see if any of them are 1) still running trail and 2) want to actually add me as a friend!!"

I see the posts here are pretty old so wondered if the group was still live?

Anyway hello! I have been running off-road for about a gazillion years and yes road sucks the soul from a girl. Occasionally necessity (and transport from a to b) sees me pounding the streets but apart from that its woods, mud, road, trail, more et al all the way.

    Who are all you lot?
