Holy ****! That nearly brought a tear to me eyes. The day I lose my girl, I'll have to try & remember this. Not sure if anything will comfort me, but this might. Thanks for the post!:flowerforyou:

We had to put down our 4 year old weenie dog a few years ago. She ruptured two disks in her back and was paralyzed. That was the most heart breaking thing in the world... She was still so bright and happy in her little face, I cried for days. Crap, I'm crying now remembering it.

My big fur-kid now is so spoiled and such a big part of our lives, I know my husband (and me) are going to fall apart if/when something happens to him.

I felt like that with my cat. :( He was my love since I was very young, and then just stopped eating and got super thin (I think he also had a kidney disorder that started his decline). He was still so loving and sweet to the day he died. I still miss him and that was 7 years ago that he passed. :( Still haven't found any cat that is comparable to him.

So sorry to hear that. It is very hard to lose a pet as they become so close to you. But rest assured I'm sure you will receive comfort and support from people in this group .... x

I'm so sad for you. There's nothing like the love of a furry family member. Me and my 2 send you kisses.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old, are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt, or maimed are made whole and strong again. Just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing. They each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together...but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers.

Suddenly...he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster, and faster.

    You have been spotted.

When you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face. Your hands again caress the beloved head. You look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then... you cross the Rainbow Bridge together.

I absolutely LOVE that poem and it makes me cry EVERY TIME! I lost my Kitty almost 2 years ago and know i don't want another. DH wants a cat. we have 2 dogs, one is 6 yrs old. I know i will be a basket case when he goes. I keep having dreams (nightmares) about it. don't know why, since he is alive and well now.

Sorry to hear this, was just browsing and found this. Wasn't going to cry this Morning but I did.
I had to put my 14 year old Rottie down a couple of years ago. Part of me went with him for sure.
