Hi Rae!! I'm Charlene. I currently live in Baltimore, but I was born and raised and spent most of my life in Philly. And most importantly, I bleed Eagles green!!! My parents and close friends are still there, so I'm up there frequently (at least once per month). I graduated from Drexel with a B.S in business administration. Used to be very active, but stopped everything when I moved to Baltimore. Now I'm trying to get back to living and enjoying life. Zumba and walking are my primary forms of exercise right now, but I find that I'm getting up off the couch and doing a lot more with my time and my life.1

Hey there,
My name is Meredith- I live in Philadelphia. A few years ago I lost over 100lbs. I gained 1/2 of it back. I had done it with weight watchers and working out nearly daily with beachbody products- especially turbo jam. I also belong to Ballys.
I would love new fitness local friends. Am 42, a social worker (recently laid off) and love to support and motivate others.0 -

Faith, 34, live in Philly, full-time mathematics student.
I am in maintenance mode for now until the quarter ends at which time I plan to work out like a crazy woman. Being a full-time student is new for me, and I'm on my second cold right now from running myself ragged.
I love the arc trainer and free weights and oblique exercises. I'm not a fan of group exercise typically, but there is a class at my school's gym that I like.
I've been a a strict vegetarian since 2002, and I vacillate between being ovo-lacto and vegan. My meat window never opens though (except the one time I was in Istanbul and tasted some seafood).
Anyway, glad that there is this group option now on MFP. Thanks for starting the group Rae.0 -
Good morning Philly people!! lol! I'm Tobi and I live in Bensalem. I am a somewhat newbie runner and have completed several 5Ks over the course of the last year. I will be doing the Abington YMCA's Gobble Wobble 5K on Thanskgiving morning this year and I hope to do the Broad Street Run in 2012.
I currently work in a contact center for an insurance company as a project manager (sort of - to explain what I really do would just take too much time). My boyfriend and I love to eat dinner out in and around Philly and are always looking for great new restaurants to try - especially Indian and Mexican!
I've lost 112 lbs since 2008 and have just about 25 lbs to go to reach my goal. Feel free to add me as a friend!! Looking forward to getting to know you all!0 -
Thanks for the invite. I'm Mike, from KOP/Audubon area. Tired of sitting in front of PC for work tracking everything except myself.
Joined MFP in Sept and am averaging a drop of 1.4lbs per week.

Anyone have a good HRM, mileage counter all in one? See the new Nike+ GPS watch but reviews are bad. I used Nike+ Ipod to tracking miles/paces..0 -
Hello all!
I'm currently living in Montgomery Co after living in NE Philly for a number of years. Also currently unemployed due to a nationwide layoff. *sigh*
Most of my workouts are homebased or simply walking/biking around my neighborhood.0 -
Hello Philly area peeps!
I'm Kim, I live in the Ridley area in DelCo. I work for Philabundance. I'm originally from Chicago but have been here for about 2.5 years now. I had reached my goal weight before I moved here and just wanted to work on firming up, but the cheese steaks got to me and the weight started coming back. Nothing too terrible I guess but I'd like to get those 12-15 lbs back off. I've been up and down within about 5 lbs for the last couple years so I guess I can maintain there, just having trouble getting the rest of the fat off. I have been slacking off a bit the last month and trying to get back on track. I am trying to do the ChaLEAN Extreme/TurboFire hybrid program but working OT is starting to get in the way. Just gotta keep on trying!1 -
hey there fellow philadelphians!!
i'm cate and i'm from chester county. i relocated to virginia for school, and i can certainly say i am happy to be back in good ole philly! i'm currently working in manayunk part time as an intern for ligne-roset (come check out our stuff!!) and i teach swim lessons for the local ymca. i grew up dancing and swimming - more dancing than swimming - but i still did both. because of dance, i really got into yoga in college. my current fitness guru is jillian michaels. i recently started 30 day shred, and i LOVE it! my other hobbies include reading, cooking/baking (attempting to really haha), and following my favorite philadelphia sports teams.
have a good rest of the week, everybody, and let's go flyers!!0 -
Hey Yo!
I'm Stu, born and raised in the NE. I have completed a few 5k's as well as a Warrior Dash. I have completed several at home work out programs, including P90X, Insanity and ChaLEAN Extreme. I am currently doing Rev Abs, but Brett Hoebel (he was the trainer on The Biggest Loser last season). I am also a martial artist with a back ground in Tae Kwon Do and Kenpo. It's great to meet other people from the area.1 -

Hi! I'm Karen- I live in West Philly and work in Fishtown, so I am a Philly gal through and through! I've been In Philly since 1993- Graduated with my BFA from UArts in 1996, began teaching stained glass in 1997 at local art centers and UArts, founded a Philly based non-profit Art Collective in 1999, opened my own business(restaurant/coffee shop/gallery) in 2002, Had my first child in 2005 and my second in 2008 and am currently running my business, parenting my kids, enjoying my friends and family, caring for my 5 cats and my canary, keeping my house clean and trying to get more fit. Thanks for starting a local group!0

My name is Derek and I live in Harleysville and work in Center City. I joined MFP earlier this year when a friend was posting to Facebook about it, but then went into a ziti-fueled funk and gained more weight. Now, I'm here work. Or at least change the way I see food.0

Hey everyone, I'm Liz, and I lived in the Art Museum area, Center City, then South Philly before I moved out to Wallingford (next to Media and Swarthmore) when our son turned 1 year old. I work in Northern Liberties, and plan to move back to the city when our son graduates from high school (11 more years!).
I love being a mom to my 7 year old boy, who knows more about the Eagles and the Phillies than my husband and I do. One day you may see him playing for the Phillies, he is that good! I also enjoy photography, and for exercise, I go to a personal trainer at City Fitness on 2nd and Spring Garden 3 days a week. Nice to meet all of you!0 -
Hey everyone! I'm Emilyjoy and I live in Philly near Center city. I've lived out here for about a year now and i'm finding it difficult to meet people in the area. I'm sure returning to school will fix that tho. Still, anyone who would like to add me go right ahead! I love the support and love TO add support and motivation.
Thanks everyone!0 -
Hey everyone,
My name is Ryan and I am 27 years old. I lived in Delaware County all of my life. I have been working at Boeing for 5 years. I'm a diehard Eagles fan and enjoy going to Phillies games.
I weighed over 400lbs when I was 20. I had gastric bypass and that helped me lose about 80lbs. I didn't stick with it and just kept on eating (which expanded my stomach back to normal). I gained a little weight back, but then I just went on a regular diet routine of eating healthy and working out.0 -
My name is Kim. I lived in Pittsburgh for 8-10 years & lived in Philly for almost 3. I like Punk, Metal, Goth, The Misfits, Rockabilly. Zombies, MMA, WWE , UFC, books0

Hello All,
I'm Evan, a college student at Drexel study Culinary Science. I'm 26 and live in Far Northeast Philly. I started to lose weight hoping to feel better physically and to become more attractive to the opposite sex.
I've been doing 1 pound a week for about 3 months now and have accepted that it will take awhile but I/m gonna live that long anyways so might as well become healthier and happier.
I enjoy all types of games (board and video), some TV shows, reading the Dresden files, and I'm a decent cook (my friends say I'm awesome, but that's for someone else to decide) . I'm a hopeless romantic and enjoy the simpler things in life most days. I also started home brewing recently and I do a balcony garden every year.
That's me in a quick nut shell.0 -
Hey Evan,
What music do you like?0 -

Hey Evan,
What music do you like?
I usually listen to ska like the slackers or reel big fish. I also tend to listen to bands like Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys. Anything with an upbeat tempo or sometimes a haunting melody.0 -
Good morning! I live in West Chester, been here about a year and a half... previously lived in the Lehigh Valley area (Nazareth, Allentown and Bethlehem) from the age of 8. I was born in Virginia. I'm 37 and struggled with my weight all my life... I've been on ever diet known to man I think, lol. I also had surgery, lost a LOT, but gained over half back, so here I am again at it. This time I'm trying to make it a lifestyle change and not just a diet.0

Hey everyone!
I'm Ruth, and live in the Mt. Airy section, where I've been for about 7 months. (I was born and raised in Philly and the Philly area, but moved around a bit after college, and have now made a full circle!) Don't have any interesting hobbies to speak of, pretty busy with my job.
Joined MFP on the recommendation of my best friend, but she and her hubby, who I was doing this with, live over in Europe and are currently super busy, so they haven't been on much and I realized, after a doctor's appointment yesterday, that I need to really start doing this again and get support, because I'm only 5 pounds away from my highest weight. I'm 5'5" and currently 135. I know that's not obese or really overweight, but it feels bad to me especially when 2 years ago I was at my goal "happy" weight of 125. I have a heart condition and as such my doctor would like to see me on the low end of the scale, she doesn't want me to overload my already troubled heart. This also complicates things a bit in terms of what kind of exercises I can do. When I was at my goal weight, I was doing yoga 3-4 times a week, which made me feel good and was a safe way to exercise. I'm currently working on finding a new gym (I've moved 2x in 2 years!), and think I may have found a winner, but in the meanwhile, althought I walk to and from work, it's only a 15 minute walk each way, and then I sit at a desk for 8 hours!
I was interested in starting waist training, so if anyone here knows anything about that, please let me know! But there's no way I'm starting that until I've lost at least 5 pounds! So I'm excited to start being accountable again, trying to live healthier, but still feeling pretty bummed from yesterday's reality check with the scale! Any tips, tricks, questions you have for me are welcome! Thanks all, and have a great day!0 -
