I've been dying to learn for ages how to play the piano and I finally got a keyboard as a gift which I am really thankful for. It's an old, but very loved one that has "Star Wars Main Title" as one of the demo songs. ^_^ Very geektastic in my book! It's like it was made especially for me. Anyways, back to the point- I have no one to teach me and was wondering if anyone knew of any great free site teachers because I really want to play some of my favorite songs, but I can't seem to find the right stuff to teach me. I know I'm suppose to learn the basics first, but why not both? Personally, I think it'd help me to keep practicing if I was learning the songs that I love.

I know there are a fair number of Youtube piano tutorials. I'd start there. Once you find some instructors you like, you can browse all their videos. Many have incremental lessons and if you subscribe, you can get notified for all the new stuff they post, too. Have fun!0

I'm a Music Teacher. My suggestion is buy the most basic piano lesson book you can find and start from the beginning and work your way up. There are some series that have books especially for adults, usually called "Adult Beginner" or something along that line. The series off the top of my head are Alfred, Bastien, Schaum and John Thompson.
Glad to hear you want to learn to play!0
