I've got to go to work so I'll make it quick.

I'm a state employee. I am a therapist in a prison and have worked in the state hospital. We were shutdown for nearly three weeks because of the legislature (@prison we did work) and now we're in negotiations.

I personally have seen management abuse worker rights and experienced a very unsafe work environment. Without the union I can't imagine how bad it could get.

my name is april and im married to a union brother - the IBEW - my husband works for verizon...you know, if you have your eyes and ears open, the company that still refuses to negotiate fairly with the union *sigh* anyways, we were on strike back in august and it was *only* two weeks. i can't imagine any longer than that and me coming out with my sanity intact :)

    Welcome, April_Beth.

That does sound REALLY hard. I'm proud to say that I switched from Verizon. Please keep us updated on what's going on. Stay strong!

Oh, and if you'd like to be active as a volunteer here, please feel free. The amount of time I can devote to this is limited (I spend WAY too much time on MFP as it is) yet, I want there to be a place to talk about this stuff.

Ho, I'm Amy and proud member of the DCFT. Unfortunately, I'm working under a school board that is very anti-union, and Colorado is a state that will allows a governing body to "not recognize" unions.
