Welcome to the group! I'm so glad so many people found this group so quickly! I just discovered this site after researching different applications for my phone. I do so much better when I keep track of my eating and exercise. I then found this website and I'm officially hooked!

I have been neglecting myself lately and have noticed a dramatic dip in my energy levels. Between work and family and outside obligations, I need to make my health a priority. With winter right around the corner, if I don't do something, I'm not sure what kind of shape (mentally and physically) I will be in by spring time.

I've only been on this recent health kick for a few days, but the increase of healthier eating, more water and increased activity is already improving my energy. I work in the basement of a 3 story building. I have made a pledge to go to the top of the building (69 steps - I count every time) for every restroom break. The more I climb, the more water I drink, and the more trips I make (sorry for the TMI). Yesterday I calculated I climbed 21 flights of stairs during the day. Not too shabby.

To get to my perfect weight, I would probably need to lose 60 lbs. I'm setting a more realistic goal of 40 lbs. Really, I just want to feel better. Since my son was born, I feel like a 30-something in a 70-something body. I'm currently at the weight I was before my son was born, but now that he is beginning to walk, I want to be the kind of mom that can keep up. He deserves at least that.

I see that some of you have already lost weight....congratulations! Hopefully we can support eachother in this...

...and just think of all the calories we will burn together shoveling snow this winter. :ohwell:

I got about a thousand extra calories for shoveling during that late snowstorm we had last winter...the one where concrete fell from the sky. It actually felt pretty good.
