i believe in ghosts as well, i'll have to share my stories later. but, how do you guys think this ties into other...beliefs?0

I tend to believe things that are proven to have merit. Like when things move in front of me or disappear.
Or like when the lights come on in a room when no one has touched the lights, or when a car horn starts blowing in a car that no one is near, that belonged to someone who died suddenly and violently - and we can't make it stop. Or when you hear or see something that is very real and has no other explanation. Some spirits seem to be restless, and are attempting to communicate with the living.
If you are a believer in some religion, I don't know how you fit that in - I don't have any deep religious education.
My experience has not been with anything evil, just restless. Thankfully.0 -
What really scares me is when things happen without any explanation whatsoever. (A light turning off by itself, a door closing by itself, etc).
Like a few weeks, something happened that we have yet to figure out what happened. We have one of those plastic filing cabinets, with a first aid kit sitting on top of it, on an upper shelf in our closet. One day my husband called me and asked me if I needed the first aid kit. I told him "no, why?" and he proceeded to tell me that the 4 drawers from the filing cabinet were on the floor, all the contents were scattered in the closet and the first kit was sitting outside the closet. That morning I had gone to the gym at 5am and I entered that same closet and everything seemed to be in place. My husband walked into the closet at 10am so between 5am and 10am something happened. The drawers require a considerable amount of force to be pulled open since we have them packed with heavy papers, etc. so they couldn't have just slipped out.
We don't have pets and my daughter is only 20 months. Creepy to say the least.0 -
I have never seen a ghost but I am definitely open to the possibility. I was at this farmhouse in hampton va once that had been around and used as a hospital in the civil war era. My friend was babysitting and swore the house was haunted. Before I knew this I went over there....................then she told me........b!tch haha. Anyways while we were there and this was out in the middle of nowhere. The doorbell rang (kids were def asleep) I felt cold breezes and the cats both kept staring at the same chair for about 20 minutes. So I am definitely open.0

I do. I even did a ghost hunt. I asked a question on a microphone in a cemetary. Something answered. I still have the recording saved. Effing CREEPY.0

Heh heh, see to me that's fascinating, not creepy. Unless the 12 inch scissors in the First Aid Kit appeared under the sheets later....
You're welcome.
Now you'll be looking :laugh:0 -
Ok I'll be the skeptic who says no. It's a role I'm very ok with.
Lights shut off sometimes. It's called faulty wiring. Not evidence of life after death. Doors blow closed as well. If the afterlife really is schlepping around earth and once in a blue moon you get to shut off a lightbulb well..you can keep it. I'd prefer to not exist.
MANY people have ghost stories. None have ever been proven. If any of you do have concrete proof of a ghost however I know a place where you can win a million dollars. So that's cool.
I lump ghosts in with werewolves, vampires, unicorns, goblins and women who pick up the check. They simply don't exist.
Just kidding ladies. Love ya! :flowerforyou:0 -
When I was little we lived in a house where someone commited suicide.Strange things always happened. All these years later im not sure what I believ0

Spirits, energies.....there is something I think that does linger sometimes.....0

haha I wish you were just kidding, since my fiance is a bit older than me even if I do pay people assume it's his money I am paying with anyway haha0 -
Yes, I believe that strange unexplainable things happen0
-
I just have a hard time believing that ghosts exist. Not to get into a religious debate but I feel the same way about ghosts as I do about God...It's a way to explain the unexplainable but there is no hard proof.0

It was fascinating and creepy at the same time. It's not like I captured it saying some random thing. It actually responded to my question intelligently.0 -
100 % I believe !0

unexplainable. Hm.0

yeah this is what i was saying earlier, for those who are religious and have had 'encounters' how are the souls of ghosts accounted for then?0 -

I say all the time that cats see dead people! Always happened at night when I was home alone and prone to getting spooked anyway one or both of my cats would freeze and stare at a spot in space and get all big-eyed...usually staring over my shoulder. Then I would go run and hide in my room with my head under the covers. Cats.0 -
I haven't seen a ghost but I have friends who did. I have a stepsister who died before my mom married my stepfather, I never knew her. One summer, my friends (3 of them) came to pick me up to go to a waterpark and they waited in my front foyer while I ran around getting my stuff together. When we got in the car, they asked who the girl was I had over. I didn't have anybody over, just me and my sibs. They described a dark haired girl sitting on the sofa watching tv while my mom & I were running around. At one point they were alone with her in the room. They felt she was being rude by ignoring them so somebody said hi to her. She turned around and just looked at them and then turned back to the tv. Then I came back in the room and we all left. I didn't notice anything and when I questioned my mother later she said she hadn't either.
We were all about 13 at the time, my stepsister died when she was 16. I had never talked about her because quite frankly I didn't know much about her. I never knew her and my stepfather didn't like to talk about it much and the only pictures we had of her were in albums not out on display for anyone to ask about. There had been weird things going on at my house for years so we jumped to this conclusion. Later I had the chance to dig through the pictures and found one of her class pictures. My friends picked her right out of the class lineup.
I didn't see her but as I said weird things happened in that house so I believe I felt her from time to time. If it was her I've always wondered why? Why was she there at all? What was her purpose on the sofa and my friends seeing her? We've long since moved out of that house, is she still there?0 -

I LOVE the ghost hunters show. I think it's fascinating
I totally believe there are residual spirits. There aren't many logical explinations for a lot of things.0 -
Yes, I do 100%. I saw them often as a child, and still have experiences with them now, though now it's not usually visual.
My apartment has one (or more, I don't know since I don't usually see them). I'll give you some examples-
Sometimes when I'm entering the front door I feel a tugging sensation on my shirt, like someone is trying to keep me outside.
I once saw a man out of the corner of my eye standing at the front door, but when I turned to look directly at him, there was no one there.
One time a picture went from on the wall in the hallway to the middle of the living room floor (way too much space between the two spots to be simply a fall). Things often get moved from one spot to another with no explanation, always when I'm out of the room, usually books.
In the house that I lived in before this apartment, the lights would often turn themselves on. And not just an electrical thing, I once saw the light switch go from down to up.
These are just a few examples...
I love ghost stories!0 -
ok I got a freaky one for you guys, I told this one on here a while ago but maybe you haven't heard it. My coworker had a friend who's family had moved into an older townhouse. Weird things would happen but just flickering lights and little stuff. But one day she was upstairs vacuuming and it turned off, she looked out down the hall and it was unplugged so she just thought she overextended the cord and pulled it out. So she plugs in it and starts vacuuming again. It happens again, then again. The last time she quickly pokes her head out and looks down the hall and she sees a gray cloud of a man bent down at the plug, he looks at her makes an angry face and covers his ears then dissapates into the air. After that they moved and when they had everything packed up and were pulling away, every light in the house came on, then went off and they drove away. Supposedly an older man had gotten sick and died in the house which could explain why they always heard footsteps pacing from the upstairs bedroom to the bathroom and back to the bedroom.............creepy.0

Okay. *shiver* This is exactly what I referred to in my previous post.....
I got into a relationship with a man whose young wife had just recently died in an accident. According to him, they had argued at a bar, and the wife walked out into traffic where she was killed.
He was a nut case. But I didn't have that part figured out yet.
So he and I were practicing some adult activities in the bedroom and the overhead ceiling light came on. No one else in the room. The wall switch was on as well.
A few days later, her photograph moved from its position mounted on the wall, to the other end of the hallway (about 12 feet) and it was facing the wall, but standing up leaning on the wall. No one had been in the house except me. I just stared at it for the longest time.
She had a small dish on a shelf that held her jewelry. One day it mysteriously broke into a hundred pieces while just sitting on the shelf.
Her car was sitting in the driveway. One day we were doing something in the house and the horn began blowing and we couldn't make it stop. He took the car and left it somewhere in the woods. The horn was still blowing.
In hindsight, I thought it must have been her. Either she was angry in general, or she was angry at him, or whatever. She was too young to die - less than thirty if I remember correctly.
Mysteriously, he died eight years later in an unexplained airplane crash. He was 41.0 -
Nope.
Can anybody prove the existense of ghosts?
Nope. Know why? There's no such thing. Just stories, feelings, coincidences.
Prove it to me.0 -

Ok just because this is debate and we're meant to do this sort of thing... I'm not trying to be a prick and rain on everyone's ghost parade!
Shows like Ghost Hunters are great proof that there's no such thing. Wouldn't you say that finding evidence of a ghost, since there's never been any reliable evidence of a ghost ever, would be a hard thing to find? Many of you said you've had experiences. Do you believe that anytime you went looking that experience could be repeated?
But every week these shows find evidence of ghosts..every single week. Yet none has been scientifically accepted.0 -

No, I don't think it could be repeated every time. And I'm open to some other explanation but you just hear stories with details from credible people that can't be easily explained away.
Not a fan of the ghost hunting shows, I don't watch much but of what I've seen, there's not much convincing evidence or else there's too much focus on the overly dramatic hosts. As a ghost hunting show, they are going to screen heavily the stories they find to make sure there's going to be something worth taking the time to investigate, film and then air or else they don't have a show. And of course, it's all edited. They don't just walk out the door and find a ghost, these reports come in from all over the country, if not the world. That increases the chances of finding something worthwhile to investigate considerably. And I have seen some stories debunked so they don't only show stories they claim to be the real thing.0 -
Nope I don't, I think it's nonsense. Our brains doing what they're wired to do and seeing faces where there are none etc.0

I believe the devil can do some scary things that can be confused for a ghost. I also believe in Angels. Once when my brother was a child he fell down the stairs and felt a hand on his back that stopped his fall.
I've heard some creepy things in the house I grew up in, but I've never actually seen anything.
One time when my younger sister was only 2 she asked my mom what the devil looked like. *creepy*0 -
