Hey Campers! I like setting up a tent, sleeping outdoors in a tent!

Any suggestions for a LED lantern? I"m currently looking at the Black Diamond Apollo.

I always use my headlamp at night, but the Black Diamond Apollo gets good reviews overall on different online stores.

We just purchased a camper for our family. This is the first year we have been camping. We did 4 weekend trip and a 1 week vacation. It was so much fun and our kids had a blast!

That's what I found too, although I have to admit that I only looked on a few sites.
Hee, hee - I have a Petzl headlamp too. Thought I would get an addt'l LED lantern after Hurricane Irene swept through!!

We have an annual camping trip we do with a group of friends - we go out to the San Juan Islands. It's not serious camping by any means .... we stay at a nice campground on a lake, spend all day out on our boat, and then party all night and get yelled at by campground security for making too much noise (it's a tradition!) - but we do sleep on the ground in tents and cook over a campfire so I'm counting it.

    Heading camping on Black Friday!
    It's gonna be chilly!

We are taking several families who are first timers.

    Yikes!

Cool group! I'm into multi-day kayaking trips and camping. Back in June, I took my 14 yr old son with me on a 9 day kayak/camping trip down the French Broad River around the Asheville, NC area (organized by a nonprofit riverkeeper organization there). It was a semi-supported trip in which one guy in a van moved our heaviest gear from one campsite to the next each day (mostly primitive camping, but we did stop at 2 campgrounds). He recently mentioned to me, "I think that was the best vacation I've ever had." So, yes, we'll be doing that trip again, and many more, I hope.

I'm interested in vegetarian meals for backpacking. I don't see many possibilities, and I know there have to be a lot of vegetarians hiking/canoeing.
