Everyone's doing a great job keeping at it. Sadly, I was unable to walk the dogs last night. I didn't get home until after 9 PM...and then I was in desperate need of food so I shirked my duty. Anyhow, it was raining all day and one rainsoaked walk a week is really all I am wiling to do. But today I have no meetings so will be able to get out with them after work. They will be so excited. The walk after a day off is always very fast as they have extra energy to get out.

Did not get home until after 4.00pm today, had a very quick cup of tea and a crispbread, and said the famous word "walkies" Simba was off his bed limbering up ready for the days walk. We managed 40 mins before it got too dark , Simba does not like to be out when it is dark, he is a bit of a nervous dog :noway: . It was a rather cold walk 1 celcius with fog we kept to the main road and gave the forrest a miss, it was getting to dark .Really enjoyed the walk and felt de stressed after along working day .
    Happy walking everyone

hey, I have a nervous dog as well! I've been taking her to the the dogpark where we go on hikes and she hates it!! But I need her to socialize!!

Today B & I walked/hiked a total of 4.81 miles. No after-dinner walk because I took care of myself at the gym. Now we need to deal with this massive tick in her ear!! Remember...she's nervous! wish us luck!!

    Happy dogwalking!

Have you ever head of tick tweezers? They're not tweezers at all but more of a scoop. Here's the website for the one I have. http://www.tickinfo.com/protickremedy.htm It works really well, although it does really stretch the skin out when they're implanted themselves in the skin good and tight. I've had to use it on myself and while it is uncomfortable, it isn't too painful. Good luck.

We got out for 75 minutes today. It's impossible for us to get a walk in in the daylight with my work hours. The dogs don't mind but it's stressful for me because I can't see what is going on around me very well. I have to be hyper vigilant about other dogs and cats. Heaven forbid we get too close to one. All kinds of chaos ensues. Thankfully they haven't broken each other's skin, but it looks really ugly and people either think I am a bad person because of how they react to other dogs or they are really scared for me. I even had a guy run over to me, ready to save me from my own dogs lol but I yelled stop before he got close enough so Jack wouldn't bite him. I love my dogs but life is not all roses with them, that's for sure. Anyway, they never actually hurt each other, it's just a big show so I don't freak out the way I used to. Still, daylight would be nice.
  • Its great to see you all battling the elements, shifts, everything that you have to do, and still managing to get your dogs out for walkies
    I salute you all.
Im still suffering this damn cold, so at the moment, Ive decided to walk one day on and one day off till Im better.
So no walkies today, but I did a lot of housework lol.

    Happy Friday Walkies Everyone!
Im so glad you are all enjoying the group.
See you all tomorrow....yay Saturday....Im planning doing 4.4 miles hehehehe...pray for good weather.

    xx Chellesky

Went for a short 30 min walk this morning (snooze is such a tempting button on Fridays) but we ventured to the little park down the street which is full of the wondrous scents from the local wildlife.

My dog Shino is an extremely nervous dog too, my dog Tank is overly inquisitive and excited. So every time a sound, person, or vehicle comes near us I have one dog trying to run away and the other trying to bark and chase it. I'm sure we are a sight to see but they get better with every walk.

For those of you with nervous dogs, do you have any tips that seem to help. Vet appointments and bath times are extremely hard on Shino. Last time we went to the vet for shots and check up I had to sedate her and it was a horrible experience for both of us.

I love how you used "wondrous scents"!! Life is soooo much better if my dog could soak it all, even roll around in it while I'm trying to walk!!

Vet visits are horrible. In my original post I mentioned that my dog Sparky passed away so since then I have been on a mission with my more nervous dog. Like making her sit in the back seat of the car instead of freely barking & going from side to side. She still barks at trucks no matter what I do.

I love believe the Dog Whisperer when he says that our dogs are a reflection of us. I am nervous & anxious. When I was younger I was chased by a pit bull and since then I HATE dogs barking behind broken fences, or dogs off a leash. And I know my dog gets that from me. Just I would just suggest to be aware of your feelings because your dog can sense it.

I got a 35 minute walk in last night. I am leaving any minute now for a backpacking trip. I had time to walk the dogs but I didn't know it since we were supposed to leave an hour ago but my friend is still getting ready. Oh well. It's in the low 50's out and sopposed to drop into the low 40's overnight. Here's hoping I don't freeze to death while I am out.
