New week to get yourself going with that housework! We hate it, but it has to be done. What have you done this week. Please post.

Replies

  • 1st day off from working nights. No housework today!
  • Clear off the kitchen table of clutter! Pick up the toys in the living room. 5 minute straighten up in kitchen. Clutter off of an end table (the one I sit at with the computer).

Post the housework! It has got to be done!

Okay! I need to start a load in the dishwasher, get a couple of loads of laundry done :grumble: , clean and disinfect all combs and hairbrushes, clear and dust dining room table, and clean master bedroom bathroom. I'm off to get started!

Hi everyone - I've sorted laundry and started a load. It's been about a week, so I've got several loads to cycle through.

Yesterday I made pumpkin muffins. This morning before work I folded two loads of clothes. When I get home, after making supper. I will be scrubbing my counter tops & stove top, then vacuum and mop the entire house (this usually takes me almost an hour because I'm so picky).
  • I did the 15 minute challenge in the kitchen. I put on a timer for 15 minutes and keep cleaning/straightening until the timer went off. Found out that I needed to declog my upright little floor vacuum, so, I proceeded to do that...then finished vacuming the floor.. Also, found jobs that need to be done in the kitchen...another day. I'm done!

Yesterday I rearranged my kitchen, it looks alot biger now. I finished cleaning out a room I never used and made my daughter her own play room, no more toys in the living room again, wooo yeah. More laundry to do I dont think I will ever finish tackling that task.

GETTINGFIT, I love the timer idea!!

Well, today my son didn't do 2 of his chores and now I have to do one in order to continue on with my day!

    1. unload then load the dishwasher
    2. do 1 load of laundry & make sure to fold it.
    3. START to sort out the "rat's nest" I have going on my "TO DO" table in my bedroom.

Whew, you guys are great motivation!! I NEED you!!
  • I thought of the timer thing years ago. I can't get motivated, but if I know I only have 15 minutes to do something, I know there is a quitting point if I want. Or....I can keep going.

Today, the timer get the bathroom today and probably the kitchen again.....Ok.....I got to get going......Here I go!
  • 15 minutes - in the kitchen (washed the sink dishes, wiped off counters, cabinets, some of the baseboards, vacuum floor)

How do you guys handle laundry? Do you have one laundry day or do you do a little each day. The laundry is taking over  !

I HAVE to do a minimum of 1 load of laundry a day because I have 5 people living in my house. I have a nice queesn bed in the office that is used for "come and get it" laundry!!

Yesterday was a great day for my garage cleanup!!
The only thing I never touched was my "rat's nest" in my room. But the pay off in the garage is a dumps day today & maybe some Lowes shopping!! Be happy for me!

    So today I will:
load my dishwasher (pinned down the son who has that chore today!)
    attack the rat's nest
maybe do some daydreaming & fantasizing & Lowes regarding my closet.

My husband is off this week so I would be doing more housework if he was off.
Have a great day housecleaning friends!!

Okay! I need to put a load in the diswasher, get a least two loads of laundry completed, clean the stovetop and microwave, and wash down cupboard doors and drawer fronts in the kitchen.

I have four kids (although joined the Air Force a year ago). I have the laundry sorting bags next to the washer/dryer that the kids are to sort their own clothes. When a bag is almost full, I will do a load or two. I never could do "laundry day"; I hate doing laundry enough that the thought of doing nothing but laundry all day is terrifying! I'd rather do little bits as we go or need. With that being said, last night I washed the fourth load of colored clothes since Saturday!

I do the same - but I only have 1 child. I bought a laundry sorter from Target that has 3 bags and I've taught my 7yo son how to sort his clothes. If only I could teach DH.

    Today I have:

Washed, dried, and put away dishes from last night's dinner and today's breakfast & lunch
One load of laundry, washed, dried, and put away
    Cleaned the guest bathroom
Cleaned the kitchen (except the floors)

Working late tonight - not sure that I'll get anything else done, but I would LOVE to get the living room looking decent before I crash.

My DH is the only one that cannot sort his own clothes. I will find his black socks in with the bleach clothes, white socks in with the colored clothes, etc. I personally think he does it on purpose to prove a point that no one needs to be that organized, but hey! he's the one that has to wear a grey sock that matches the black one!

It's rumored that they have this "Guy Rule" where they mess something up really, REALLY badly so they are never asked to do it again. :grumble:

I am off to clean the family room. I will dust the ceiling fan and furniture, clean the windows, and vacuum. My kids have a ton of DVD’s that are scattered and not in their cases. So I’ll organize those. I plan to get a couple of loads of laundry done and load the dishwasher. I also need to inventory the freezer and get rid of old items. I better get busy. Happy cleaning everyone! :smokin:

this idea is working very well for my 8 years old daughter.!
i let her set the timer for 5 min a day to clean her room.. she hates cleaning so 5 min is a great idea to get her going. thanks allot for this group and your wonderful ideas :-)

Okay all you motivated housework challengers...you just may be rubbing off on me.

Unfortunatly my son didn't unload the dishwasher so I will:

    1. unload then load the dishwasher, fold laundery & dry 1 load. (amazingly I don't have a full load to wash!)
    2. vacuum the living room & sweep the kitchen, dining/ family rooms

The good news here is that while my husband has been off this week we have FINALLY cleaned our garage & organized everything! I have to make a lot of trips to dispose of paints, chemicals & all that but, we did it!! Yep, another part of the house that need to be kept up!!

    Have a great Thursday all!!

I just wanted to say how much I like this Topic. I always like to see what all I've done during the day, but when I post it on Facebook, I get comments about being "super mom". No, I just want a clean house & it feels good to tell others what I've done.

Today, I took down the blinds, hung them on the fence & power washed them. I then cleaned the windows inside & out & then cleaned the window seals, baseboards & walls. When I came home from work, I vacuumed & mopped the house. Trying to get ready for Thanksgiving and having at least 11 people on top of the normal 5 in my household.
