Tomorrow is my first official day of no gluten in my diet :( my dad has just been diagnosed with Celiacs.. and I have to be tested.. but from what his doctor said as far as symptoms go.. mine are pretty similar..

  • If you haven't been tested already then be careful about going gluten free. Most of the tests won't give an accurate result if you go off gluten first. And its much harder to start eating gluten again (in order to get tested) if you find you feel better not eating it.

    I also echo not to go GF before you are tested as it can skew the results! Wait until you are tested. I'm not sure what the margin of error is on the biopsy, but the blood test has a 5% margin of error, where 5% of the time it will show a negative result that is actually positive. But positive results are accurate.

    I went GF before being tested. I can't get a celiac diagnosis now. Wouldn't be accurate. Either way, gluten makes me very sick, don't need a test to tell me that. Still knowing for sure for myself and my family would be nice. Good luck!

    Yeah to get tested after going GF you actually have to eat gluten again for 3 months in order to get a diagnosis-imagine! I would be SO ill. I will never go back to eating gluten again.
