hi bootcampers!
how was everyone's first weekend of bootcamp?! hopefully fantastic! my boyfriend and i drove down to CT on thursday night to stay with friends until last night around six - there were four couples, lots of drinking and eating, and definitely lots of fun of course, it wasn't an IDEAL way to start bootcamp - i haven't worked out since thursday (i will be later today), and i drank much more than i normally would. i DID however make lots of smart decisions throughout the entire weekend. i packed lots of my own food so that i could eat as healthy as possible. we made dinner thursday, friday, and saturday and i was able to modify the meal just enough for it to be healthier for me! i stayed within my cals on thursday and friday, but i did go over saturday - i snacked a little in the afternoon and drank a lot of champagne so that did me in! but one day isn't terrible. sunday was ok - i stayed in my cals - but i did have pizza for dinner. i realized after i ate it that i had brought a healthy pasta with me that i should have made instead, but in all honesty we were all pretty exhausted and i did not feel like cooking again at that point. im just happy i was able to portion control in the moment!
all in all, i had a great time with friends that i don't often get to see, and i did not wreak havoc on my body - which is a good feeling! im taking time now to plan out my food for the day, schedule in my exercise, and go grocery shopping so that i can have a productive and successful rest of the week!
what was the hardest part of this weekend for you? what were you surprised to see you were able to do?! i want to know!!

Happy to report that I have been working out every day since Friday and today will be no exception. Food was less than stellar though. Went out to dinner with friends on both Saturday and Sunday nights and did not even come close to making the best choices. I completely indulged. I seem to be back at in full force today though. My water consumption has been at a minimum of 8 glasses each day also. Knowing that I have to report to the rest of you bootcampers has kept me a lot more accountable than I thought. Now if I can just get my food in check for the rest of the week, I just might see that scale drop.0

Hi all! I think I've had a pretty successful week so far! I had fallen off the bandwagon last time for events, stress, etc and promised myself I wouldn't and I've stuck to it so far even WITH the stress! Wha-hoo! I worked the entire weekend and had 2 -12 hour days back to back so I made sure to make my food ahead of time AND get up early to work out! (Which is a new thing for me because I'm more of a night time exerciser, but I enjoyed the change!) I've had personal stress in my living situation too, but I still haven't let it deter me from my goals. I think your mental outlook on a healthy lifestyle (or just anything in general) is really what can keep your head on straight even in the trenches. I did have a work social event on Sunday night that could've been a doozie! There was cake, beer, wine, munchies, etc, but I left enough of a calorie deficit and exercised in the morning to allow for one beer, and a little piece of lasagna without overdoing it! Although, I need to work on social situations because it is really difficult to not indulge in drinking when everyone else is and having a blast. All in all it was a pretty good week. I hope it hasn't been too rough for anyone else and I look forward to more healthy days ahead!0

It sounds like everyone is doing ridiculously well this week so far! So proud of everyone! I feel like I have really kept my food in check so far and with my new found love for my HRM I've enjoyed exercising. I wasn't able to get in my DANCE CENTRAL or JUST DANCE calorie burn yesterday due to work and today due to my husbands friend who lives with us being home (I have a major fear of him coming downstairs and seeing me dance like an idiot! He promises he would let me know when he was coming down while I was working out but I consistently check to make sure no one is watching my fat *kitten* jiggle around haha)! I have had one or two seltzers a day but I am definitely not reaching my water intake goal. I just have so much going on during school and work that I don't want to have to get up and pee every 10 minutes! Hopefully with the next two days off I'll spend most of my time studying and downing lots of water! This week I will be getting my period and I HOPE that is why I skyrocketed with my weigh in Friday. I really hope I didn't seriously gain 7 pounds in a week and a half...but if I did - I know its because I ate nothing but crap for the 8 days we lost power. Oh well - moving on!
I'm glad to see everyone seems to be enjoying the accountability and support that this bootcamp brings. THANK YOU SO MUCH J FOR BRINGING THE BOOTCAMP BACK XOXOXOXOXO0 -
sounds like we're all staying focused and ACCOUNTABLE which i LOVE!
emily - awesome job on your race time! that's so impressive! im not a runner so i keep seeing people say "PRd" and i have no idea what that means - enlighten me? you made some awesome food choices all weekend, which is not the easiest to do when you know you just burned a gazillion calories running! but you feel SO much better when you DO eat healthy in those instances! and i had three pieces of pizza for dinner on sunday too - must be something about this week
bethany - fantastic workout dedication! tackle one aspect at a time and before you know it you'll have both exercise and nutrition under control so happy to hear that bootcamp is making you think more about water - if it wasn't for bootcamp i'd almost forget about water altogether! it's such a useful tool! we ALL need to consume more water! luckily with all the fiber in my diet i'd be in a lot of pain without a large amount of daily water
geri - yay planning! it really makes a huge difference right? i always find that taking that little amount of time before things get hectic to stop and think and plan ahead saves SO much stress later on. it definitely helped me this weekend! great job with that, you have to care enough to think ahead! also, morning workouts totally rock! i have been a morning workout person for the past three years, but recently i started working out even earlier at 5:30am and it is seriously changing my life! i always thought i'd be WAY too tired later in the day if i got up that early, but i have MORE energy, i get more done, and i have more time to spend with my bf and friends later in the day because i got my workout in when the rest of the world was still sleeping! so yea, i highly recommend it!
nikki - first off *dance as if no one were watching, sing as if no one were listening, and live every day as if it were your last* don't stress your house guest - he doesn't care! i used to work out in my living room and the first summer i was losing weight (i was still pretty heavy), we were getting our front porch re-done. our apartment is SO hot in the summer so i would workout in just a sports bra and shorts (we're on the second floor so no one can really see me). i was mortified the first time the porch workers came and could SEE ME WORKING OUT! so much so that i almost stopped. and then i said no, you know what? i am doing this for ME and they can either think i look like a fat jiggly puff, OR they can see me as someone dedicated enough to change my life, to do the hard work, and to SWEAT IT OUT!! people are proud of you for making this change, but most of all you should be proud of yourself
i too am happy to see that so many of you are finding bootcamp helpful! i really do love this program, it just gives that extra little push to keep things on track this time of year, which can be hard. this is the first week so i just wanted everyone to get comfortable with the program. in the weeks to follow i'll suggest mini accountability challenges - for example, pick your lowest points category from week #1 and vow to get 10 pts higher the next week, etc. let me know what you think about those, and please feel free to suggest any of your own!
have a fantastic rest of week #1 bootcampers!!! :bigsmile:0 -
I feel like i have had a great week so far!
I have definately been motivated to drink water so i have been doing that constantly! I can't believe how much more full i feel throughout the day! I have been under my calorie intake everyday but i still feel like i have energy, even though sometimes i am way below on calories. A couple nights i felt as if i were forcing myself to eat dinner, because i wasn't even hungry in the first place.
I have faithfully been exercising each day. I'm in the process of doing Jillians 30 day shred, Im on day 15 right now, so have done that every day plus the biggest loser wii game and lots of walking.
I somehow have injured my ankles, prob from the exercising. so now my left ankle is very swollen and so so tender and my right is close behind, pain but not swollen yet. I have been modifying my exercises to try and accomidate my ankles, but they dont seem to be improving. my boyfriend suggests to not do ANY exercising for a week or so, but i KNOW that if i stop i will not start again for probably months and months like i have done many times previously.
However, i am still feeling great and i feel as though my body is running better than it has in a long time.
Thank you for the motivation and i can't wait to see everyones numbers!
By the way, I am what you would call a spreadsheet moron so it took me forever to figure out how to save the spreadsheet to my Zoho account. well i finally got all of that situated, but was just wondering what to do after week one. because the sheet is labled week one.....I get lost easily sorry!0 -
The week is off to a good start for me. ....weekend was rough though with social get togethers and drinks I didn't stay under calories everyday and didn't fit in excercise .
I purchased the 30 day shred dvd and start tonight ! I am looking forward to it and figure its a no excuse way to get in my workout,.....weather here has been rainy so it makes you hesitate when thinking about driving to the gym,....this will take care of that issue.
I didn't meet my water intake goal yesterday but was under calories,....saw a 3 pound difference on the scale this morning (cheated and looked) I am really convinced that huge amounts of water has been helping me lose !
Goal this week is to workout everyday .....I have 3 pair of pants that fit comfortably,....2 pair I can get away with wearing but make me angry by the end of the day,....and I refuse to spend money on new jeans. I need to fit comfortably into some stuff already on my closet !!!!!
Happy Tuesday everyone and hope your week is rocking so far0
