Anyone else's hubby going hunting this weekend? What do you do then? This is the first time my hubby is going & didn't really plan anything.

I like to participate in the many hunter's widow's events around the state. Nearly my entire family hunts except a few of us (the smart ones staying warm), so we all get together and go out on the town. I look forward to it every year!! :drinker:

I am so glad my husband doesn't hunt. I don't know many Wisconsin women who can say that.

Me me me! Of course, we have only lived here for 3 months, so I guess things could turn out differently but I've been married to the guy for 11 years and he's never shown any inclination to go hunting, so I might be safe.

You're probably safe then, ebaymommy. It is such an ingrained thing here. Heck, my son goes to college in Rice Lake and they don't even hold classes that week because of deer hunting season. When I was born some 47 years ago today, my dad left my then 19 year old momma alone with little me, her first, so he could go deer hunting. That's how it is here! lol

Also, the vension is really good if you cook it right.

I always said I would never marry a hunter. This year I encouraged him to try hunting, I would love the free meat!

My husband doesn't hunt, but I still do a girls night out. I love how women get a little crazy on this weekend...... Not looking forward to the hangover this Sunday tho! I agree on the free meat, I would love a turkey myself. Can you say soup for weeks??!!!

I am! It's our bowling day on opener, so my husband is bowling tonight and I'll be out and about on Saturday with my other widows.

Free meat is fab! Just had a corned venison roast last night for dinner, and venison is much leaner than your leanest beef.

I always tell my husband that he can shoot the huge buck as long as he makes sure to get a young one too, the younger ones aren't as gamey tasting. With my son hunting now too, we definitely need a bigger freezer.

I am so glad too! My husband and I were both born and raised in WI and he has never hunted. Of course he has never watched any sporting either. LOL I love my husband!

A friend of mine went to Florida when her husband went hunting. Now THAT is the way to be a hunting widow, if you ask me!!

My husband just got into deer hunting. I don't mind that he goes except he does it all wrong. I used to hunt myself and thought I would get back into it if I had someone to watch my daughter.

My husband doesn't hunt but he processes venison...so during hunting season he's sort of on call if someone brings a deer in to the shop! Not quite a hunting widow here, but kinda sorta.

The cold and rain opening day reminded me why I stay inside during hunting season.
