I don't think it's been mentioned.. but Skyrim is not a 30 minute RPG.. You can't just pick it up and play 30 mins..

What I was getting at was that since it's not an MMO, there won't be any social aspect that pulls me towards longer play or a need to log in beyond enjoyment of the game. Hope that makes sense, and I do appreciate your post.

Great thread! I'm partial to the 360. I'm on my 2nd one, the first didn't RRD on me, but died a different death. I got mine at Target, bought the extended warranty which more than paid for itself when they replaced it with the original purchase price. I was able to upgrade to the larger HD with the new one. That being said, I have played both systems, and prefer the X Box to PS3. Also, consider buying used games at gamestop, they are cheaper, and have much less risk if you don't like the game.

Everyone mentions an issue of some type with both the PS3 & 360 but IMO I think it's a damn shame that ANYONE has had to buy the same console more than once just to continue their gaming. Maybe I am lucky but every single PC I have owned and handed down to other family members as I upgrade still works to this day. I'd be really pissed if I were to buy either console and it die on me. Regardless if it was 5 days old or 5 yrs old.

We have both PS3 and XBox360.
I like the PS3, my teen likes the 360.
The one advantage that Xbox has now is that you can voice chat independent of games being played. So if you are playing COD, you can chat with a pal that's playing Gears of War. On PS3, you have to be in the same game to chat.
PS3 has more free stuff and media that you can try because Sony publishes more than Microsoft(XBOX).

Personally I think the PS3 has a better selection of games and is just all around a better system. Plus you don't have to pay to go online. The first 360 I had didn't get the ring but it wouldn't read any disc. I ended up getting another one played it for a little and it has now been collecting dust for the past 2 or so years.

    Personally I prefer the 360.
Their new Xbox consoles are now less likely to be affected by RROD & you get 1 year warranty free incase the worst does happen. We have never had RROD on any of our 3 Xbox consoles and they get played for hours everyday and all were owned for more than a year and a half, it's just a technical fault with some of the batches that were sent out.

If your PS3 breaks, they do have a fault similar to RROD and Sony know about this, they do not have it covered by the warranty and you will have to pay for your PS3 to be shipped and fixed. That and the ongoing privacy issues I do not find them trustworthy enough for online gaming especially.

Games wise, I find the Xbox exclusives much more exciting than the PS3 ones.

It just depends what you're looking for in a console really but like someone said above, you might be better sticking with your PC, my PC gamer friends have huge aversions to playing any console and ditch us to play PC all the time. :( lol

^^ This, I wanted to say this.

The new ones don't seem to have the same heating problem, nor have the old ones had since the Jasper got released. My jasper has lasted countless hours and dusty environments and poor placement from my part without anything gone awry.

We have a ps3, and it's fun and all, but unless you aim to use it a lot for media I say the xbox is a better choice. (Of course you could just go PC master race and build your own computer and have exactly what you want with cheaper games)

I wanted to once again thank everyone for the discussion in this thread.

I decided on a PS3 and my wife got one on black friday. She gets home tomorrow and I already bought Skyrim and a few used games to dink around with.

    I think you'll really like the PS3.
I rented Skryrim today from redbox just to try it out and see if I like it before I buy it. I played it for an hour or two not really sure how I feel about it yet.
