Bands, songs, etc.

They don't have to be new bands, just new to you! Share!

I just came across The Civil Wars. They're a little country for me, but their voices are great :)

Old Crow Medicine Show has been popping up a lot for me lately. I can't quite decide. Might be a little too deep woods for me.

I went to a concert in Durango, Colorado last spring (Los Lobos, who put on a much better show than I figured) and the had a Kansas City band called Moreland & Arbuckle that opened for them. Pretty formulaic bluesy sound, but good lyrics. And the guitarist's cigar box guitar has a definite unique sound.

I would say Damien Rice is pretty new to my playlist :)

    Seabear!

They're not quite new to me, but I've started to listen to them again. They're calming and have some great string instruments going (which are some of my favorite things).

Blitzen Trapper is one that I'm really getting into. You can hear their classic rock influences in their music. As a lover of classic rock, I find myself listening to them more and more.

I'm currently REdiscovering Wolfmother. I loved them when their first album came out and just bought their 'Please Experience Wolfmother' dvd and I'm obsessed all over again. If I do not see them in concert I will die- same goes for Band of Skulls.

I totally should like him. But I just don't. I've heard he puts on a very, very good show though. "Kinda dorky funny" was the description I got.

I love dorky funny :) And I think his voice brings in a little funk, which is different. But I can see why some might not like it. I have a weird taste in my singer's voices :P

Other Lives. His voice kind of sounds like Paul Banks from Interpol, but has a totally different sound. Love it! :)

Definitely going to check out Other Lives and Blitzen Trapper, thanks guys.

I'm really digging the new Beirut album and slowly discovering their back catalogue - reminds me so much of Calexico.

    Currently listening to and enjoying
The Dø - Both Ways Open Jaw

It's just good and quite eclectic & quite quirky pop music from France, it wont set your world on fire or anything but I still recommend checking it out!

The XX, Wire, Moon Wiring Club, The Weeknd, James Blake, Tuxedomoon, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, Willis Earl Beal. Yup, I have a very varied music taste :)
  • Maroon 5 has done a remake of Bill Withers--Lovely Day. I really love the way they did it. Hope you do to. Although not a new discovery it is really a great song.
  • New song by Gotye with Kimbra--Somebody That I Used to Know. Catchy little song.
