What is it about Twilight...

...that makes people such haters? Seriously, my Facebook and even some of my MFP feed has people completely hating on it. I get that it's not for everyone and that it's cheesy (even us Twi-hards can admit that) and that SMeyer didn't follow "vampire protocol" but damn. I don't get going out of my way to be snarky against something that I just don't like. I'm not defensive, just curious about what inspires these people to care so much about not liking it. Anyone else notice this?

You put into words exactly what I was thinking yesterday. I get not liking it but why be so violently opposed to it, why seek out opportunities to hate on it? I have been to Twilight websites where people make ugly comments. Why did they seek it out on the first place. I mean I don't go to WWE (or whatever it is) websites just to insult wrestling fans.
I guess it is our fault. You know, like Newton said, for every action there is a equal an opposite reaction. The more we love it the more they hate it. I don't know, just a thought. Typically it is true though, whenever there is something that is really big there will always be people to oppose it.

I don't know what it is....when I was in line waiting for the midnight movie there was some gal with her boyfriend that walked past us and made some comment about not having a life... I thought, 'really, you would say that in front of all these people'? I figure she's the kind that would start sh** with another guy and expect her boyfriend to defend her honor.

I don't understand the haters either. I mean either you like it or you don't, why do you have to be vocal about it if you don't like it. Just ignore it and go about your business. There are a lot of things that are probably more popular that get talked about, and I don't know why our beloved Twilight ruffles their feathers so much. As much as I like it, I keep it to myself unless I know another person I'm talking to likes it. So now I guess we need to avoid discussions on politics, religion, and all things Twilight!

We have a good time, it peaks our interest, it gives us something in common with others. What's wrong with that? I'm happy we have our group here to discuss without the hate. I was looking at a thread just last night, before the groups were introduced, and I'll have to say there were plenty of haters in the mix. Seriously.

If someone doesn't like it, then they don't need to read the series or watch the movies - end of story, you would think! There are plenty of things I am not a fan of, but I don't go around making comments about people who do!

For whatever reason, people seem to love the negative rather than the positive aspect of just about everything.

Think about it: How many times do you get a phone call from someone to say "OMG, did you hear about what happened to Jane Doe...she's getting divorced, has a serious illness, embarrassed herself in front of a crowd, gained 100 lbs.....<insert negative something here>" You get the idea. Then think how many times you get a phone call from someone to say "OMG, did you hear about Jane Doe? She just won the lottery...she's lost SO much weight and looks awesome....her book is being published...How fabulous for her!" I don't know about you guys, but negativity pisses me off!

The same thing goes for our love of Twilight. Instead of "Jane is going to see Breaking Dawn today. She enjoys it and it makes her happy. I'm glad she's getting a couple of hours to do something she enjoys", we get "OMG, Jane went to see that stupid Twilight movie. What is she 12? She actually likes that crap? No, I've never read the book, seen the movie, etc, but it's SO pre-teen stupid...it's not like reading about LeStat."

To the haters out there I say this: If you spent half the time you are spewing negativity just TRYING to be positive, you'd probably be a happier person. I for one like what I like and don't give two bits of a damn what anybody else thinks. For me, Twilight is an escape from the worries that I have in real life. I love Twilight, I love Edward (and Jacob and Bella and Charlie and Carlisle...), and I love all my Twi-hard friends her on MFP!!

A BIG SPARKLY STONE COLD HUG AND KISS TO YOU ALL!!!

Twitarded is a hoot! JJ, STY, LKW, and TK are fabulously nutty!

To anyone going to check it out, be advised that Twitarded is a site for grown ups and is not for those who can't handle the language etc.
