Hi All,
Going to purchase what I need for a home gym for myself and my partner.
I want to get the essentials and a good starting point so am going for this
1. And adjustable bench flat, incline, decline
2. Adjustable dumbells
3. Adjustable weight bar and plates
Is there anything that we are missing to start off with?

are you going to be following any sort of plan? you may need some resistance bands or a swiss ball (but neither would be useless in almost any program) or a couple of same-weigh DB's. a foam roll for the weight bar isn't a bad idea either..0 -
Awesome Thanks Guys.
Everything you have said so far I already have from before except the mirror. We will be working out together so can watch each others form.
And yep getting a chipup bar next week as we are going to do the P90X system0 -

Looks like you are starting off with the basics..That is certainly enough to get you started. Home gyms can be add to little by little over time. If you find you need something like for example, rubber flooring, more weight ect.. Then at some point you add that to your gym..Good luck getting started.0 -
When an ex and I used to have a home gym, rubber flooring was great for protecting the floor since we used a room that had tile flooring and we didn't want to crack the tiles (he lifted a lot heavier than I did). You can get some fairly decently priced interlocking flooring at Home Depot or Lowe's. I don't remember how much they were, but I want to say it was like $15-20/"tile" (and it was a fairly decently sized tile). You lay it down and interlock it like the fun flooring they use for kindergarten, lol.0

I'd recommend getting a couple of sets of dumbells to start with. Even though they are adjustable, it gets pretty tedious putting weight on and taking it off after each exercise.0
