Mass Effect 2 question

Just completed the final mission, and am more than a little sad. I lost some good teammates. I know this will carry over into ME3. I am aware that by doing some things differently, I could have saved my crew, but wasn't aware of this until far too late. Anyone know if I go back to an earlier save point and redo things, will this change the possible outcomes?

    Same happened to me. I was tipped off that this could have been avoided. I skipped out on several crewmember's side missions, so I've gone back to a save to fill those in. Have you done all the side missions?

    I suppose we can consult a faq/walkthrough, but I have some weird pride thing where I refuse to look at those unless I'm hopelessly stuck.

    All it comes down to is you have to pick the right person for each role for them not to die. If you chose to go back to earlier save point I would make a couple of new ones and try different ones but this will take ages. If not you can always find a guide online to help you but that takes the fun out of it but it will make it quicker! :P

    I did all but one of the side missions, but can't get over how really bummed I am that I lost some good crew members. Damn.

    Yes, you can change it. First of all....are there any missions you you haven't done for your fighting crew? Also, are there any people who were not "on your side" going into battle?

    Damn... all this talk about ME2 makes me want to pick it back up and do it all over again.. except for scanning planets, that blew. I can't remember how many times I fell asleep while scanning planets lol.

    So I went back and redid the side missions. But I still lost 2 of the members who stayed behind to guard the door during the very last mission. Grrrr
