    Okay,

So I started to sit down and think about my goals, and not to long after became overwhelmed at the thought of losing enough weight to get down to 150 - 165 pounds. So instead of setting a course for all my goals I'm going to start with the first one and go from there. I don't want to start self sabatoging because I'm overwhelmed, something I have done in the past. I'm through with that!

Highest weight I am aware of was 296, May 2007
Starting weight for MFP was 279, November 2011
    Current weight is 273, November 26, 2011

    First Goal: 259 by 12/31/11

Mini Goal 175- March 6, 2012, my birthday

If I don't reach the goals at the time I think that I want to it will be okay, I know that I will reach my goals this time, I will not give up, not this time!

When I saw this post, It really caused me to stop and think. I really haven't set a final goal. I have SOOOOOO much weight to lose, and I am kind of struggling through this thing one day at a time. This year has been really good: to my amusement, my partner keeps referring to this as my "year of improved health."

Still, it's easier to talk about the past and the present than it is to try to predict the future.

    Highest weight - April 9, 2007 402 BMI 66.9
    Weight Watchers - Jan 3, 2011 394.6 BMI 65.7
    Hysterectomy - April 27, 2011 368.4 BMI 61.3
    Left WW - June 17, 2011 368.8 BMI 61.4
    Joined TOPS - August 11, 2011 370.25 BMI 63.3
    Current - December 1, 2011 338.8 BMI 56.4

Every week, my short term goal is simple: don't gain weight.

Here are my future goals (some important milestones are clustered close together)

Lowest adult weight, last seen July 2003: 304 BMI 50.6
bye-bye Supermorbidly Obese, hello Obese: 299.8 BMI 49.9
    100 pounds since Jan 2011 294.4 BMI 49.0
TOPS Century mark: 270.0 BMI 44.9
-- more goals needed during this space!
Leave Obese range, enter overweight: 179 BMI 29.9

    And beyond..."healthy BMI" Maybe ?? 149 BMI 24.9

I also have never really set goals and I know it would be good to set them so here it goes. Also anyone feel free to add me. I think we can never have too many people in our support system:)

    Highest Weight-September 2004-331
    Weight when I joined MFP-325

    Current Weight-314
    1st Goal-299
    2nd Goal-274
    3rd Goal-254
    4th Goal-224
    5th Goal-199
    6th Goal-174
    7th Goal-154
    8th Goal- 125

As you can see I am taking it at 25 pound intervals, it is alot easier then looking at the large amount overall. I also am not putting any date on it as to not put pressure on myself. I am doing what I need to do and it will come off as it does. I wish you all the best on your journey:happy:

    2nd goal- be 285 by 2/14/12
    3rd goal- be 275 by 3/15/12
    4th goal- be 265 by 4/28/12
    5th goal- be 250 by 6/15/12
    6th goal- be 225 by 9/11/12
    7th goal- be 200 by 1/1/13
Depending on how I look and feel I may try to go further, but I am tall with a large frame so I am not sure how much lower I can go. I may try to go down to 175 or 150.

I try not to set date-based goals, because it tends to make me a little crazy. I am focusing on 25 lb increments (just completed my first, yay!) and will give myself a non-food reward each time. I am getting a pedicure for my first reward, because I absolutely love them, and never ever get them, as I am broke and it seems like a huge waste of money. However, I was able to get a Groupon for a spa pedicure (with gel polish, which I haven't tried yet) for only 15 bucks! I am super excited to go indulge myself! :)

As for my goal weight, I haven't quite settled on number. I am 5'9", and haven't been under 200lbs since my first semester of college (in 1999, eek!). When I first started (at 357) just getting under 200 seemed insurmountable, but now that I have things figured out, I think I can aim even lower! 160 is starting to seem like a good number to shoot for.

But for me, I am really focused more on being healthy, rather than being a certain weight. I have finally found a lifestyle that works for me (Primal/Paleo), and I know that the weight is going to come off as a result. I am far more excited about the health benefits I have already received (increased energy, lower meds) than the number on the scale.

Ok, that was a really long way to say that I try to think of weight-loss in chunks, rather than by deadlines!

Good luck to everyone in their journey! :)
