so I've heard and read about ROllercon & I want to go bit Vegas is a long way to travel and I've heard it's in July?
I don't have the cash or the holidays owed to go next year but Rhe year after that, I'm keen.
So what I want to know is, how long does it go for? Does it cover all levels or I it for the big girls only and everyone else gets to watch, what's the ave cost of basic accom there, should I plan to fly with my skates to the states or use rhat as the perfect opportunity to get a new set? While I'm over there is there anything else you'd recommend I come check out, I'm not sitting through a long haul flight without getin a good look around. If I put my big girl pants on would I be aloud to train with anyone over there.
Are there work shops/ boot camps or is it all bouts & scrimmage

So many questions so little direction

Little steps lead to dreams comic true

I have never been out to RollerCon... so I don't have all the details. I do know that it goes on for a weekend at least. It is in July and there are tournaments, sales booths, a HUGE derby wedding ceremony for derby wives to take their vows. they have boot camps and conferences and presentations.
How it's all set up, i don't know. But you could probably find a TON of info on line. Sorry I wasn't more help! :)

I haven't been to roller con, but a few of my league mates went this past summer. It is in July - super hot, but all the classes/bouts/events are all in one place. In past years, you would have to travel around the city to get from class to bout to class, etc. They have classes for ALL levels, as well as bouts, scrimmages for all levels as well. I believe that they have their own website which is constantly updated as things are released for the upcoming year. It usually runs from the last wed or thurs in July thru that following Sunday (usually about 5 days of derby). As far as prices, I couldn't tell you but I do know that there are usually special rates on the rooms (that the hotel offers for the event) and I know that in past years there have been airlines who have offered deal pricing as well.
  • I wanna go SOOOOO BAD! Had it all planned out for this year July 2011...but ended up pregnant in Nov 2010....so those plans went out the window! Hoping to make it this year :)

RollerCon is awesome! It's actually founded by the founding members of my league, Ivana S. Pankin and Trish the Dish. It's a weekend full of debauchary and organized chaos. But soooooo much fun. There are classes for you to sign up for. If you're a ref, there are ref classes. If you are jammer, there are classes to help better your game. There are training classes. And bouts are played in the middle of Freemont St (unless that has changed, since the last time I was there). And the black and blue ball. Such a great time! If you get a chance to go, I highly suggest that you make it. You'll meet about a whole lot of new sisters over the course of the weekend.

RollerCon, this is my 3rd year going. It is 5 days. Wednesday through Sunday and usually the last week of July. It is at the Rivera hotel and casino, used to be held at Las Vegas Sports center, and challenge bouts were on Freemont. That is days of old. It has gotten so big that we now take over the hotel :) It is awesome fun times. You think Vegas, usually you think PARTY, but at RollerCon you just want to skate, and that means less partying, but totally worth it. You will meet so many people from so many leagues. I just get the skater pass , that allows you to bout and scrimmage and do everything but the Classes, you can do all of that and the classes with the MVP pass. I will be volunteering this year so my pass will be discounted next year. YAY. It is all day derby, if you want to learn and get experience this is the place to be. Be prepared to skate your booty off. The classes are for blockers and jammers, there have been instructors in the past such as Suzy Hotrod and Damanda Riot. Awesome!!!
