So when you lift do you leave the gym exausted? I am on my third time lifting, I have been tracking how I feel when I get there and when I leave. I don't feel all that worn out. Am I not pushing my self hard enough? During some of the sets I come out dizzy and slightly naushish. I think I am lifting my max for the number of reps and sets that I am trying to acomplish but you allways can do more. Should you feel dizzy and slightly ill after every set? Just curious, I am sure I could do more but afraid to fail out and look stupid. My partner just doesnt seem motivated to go with me anylonger he was sleeping today at 2pm when I went.... so anoying its would be so much easier if I had a spoter...

dizzy and ill after every set? Check your breathing. No you shouldn't.

Now intense workout can provoke an accompanying nausea index on occasion.

Typically my muscles are fairly wasted after my workouts for a couple of hours with a little stiffness and soreness the next day.

exhausted doesnt describe what i feel. drained seems to fit better. and sometimes my legs feel a little rubbery after lower body workout.
  • sounds like ur not breathing properly which is very important

I get light headed after heavy squats or deadlifts from time to time.

    Keep hydrated.

Don't forget to breathe :P (sounds stupid but people do!)

as you prep for the lift inhale and as you push or pull with the lift exhale... every time, even on the warm up lifts, because that way it will help you form the habit, and not have to actually think about it.

Lifting increases blood pressure, so does holding your breath. Add those two circumstances together then you get dizzy.

Oh and don't worry about it increasing your blood pressure overall, because it won't. Guys who lift consistently will see their blood pressure go up right after and then come back down rapidly whereas weekend warriors will see it go up when they lift and it will stay elevated for hours and this is where the danger isues an cortisol levels becom an issue.

If you are really worrid and haven't done so, I reccommend getting a Dr. check. Sometimes peace of mind is wotth the co-pay!

You are doing the NROL and leaving the gym not exhausted? Are you still in the first break-in portion of the workout? It is a rate occurrence that I leave the gym after a workout without some level of exhaustion...

And yes... breathing will help you with the lightheaded.. and do not be afraid to drink a TON of water....

Are you taking a protein shake or eating something pre-workout?

I always leave the gym exausted. Dizzy is bad. Deffenitly check your breathing. Utube it if you want the standard for that type. Check your diet. make sure your getting 3k potasium and sodium if your going to be sweatting that day.

bannana smothies with your whey shake, or take a V8 to the gym for refule mid workout. If the dizzyness persists check your heart rate. and rythum. 3 work outs a week is a good start for your first two months. You need to work in a weekly cardio though. dont do it on a day you lift and see if you develop that dizzy/naushish feeling doing that. I prefer jogging on the tredmill at an incline because its soft on the knees and elipticals are made for people smaller then me. but walking up hill on tip toe will get your heart going(although a bit silly looking) just as fast as jogging with minimul impact also.

Last note, If you want to put on muscle mass. becarefull maxing out more then a couple times a month at the start. (youll tear your tendons) still rep to fatigue but at 70% wight or less.

Ive found spouses easyer then workout partners. Machines only go so far for maxing out alone. most my failures are with dumbells and i just dropem

Finally got in what felt like a good workout!! Left feeling drained, rubbery and craving water!! Whoo! Whoo! Can't wait to get back tomorrow! Lots of cardio as well...the roll around my middle needs it.
