I would love to learn how to make essential oils at home. I raise Lavender and have a ton of roses. Does anyone know how to make oils with them?

Well, there are oils and then there are essental oils. I'll start with a very brief description of how to make your own oil infusions at home. They aren't as strong asessential oils, butmuch more practical for home making. There are a lot of grea books out therethat describe this prcess better and more completely, but in brief:
Take a glass jar and stuf it as full of your herb as possible. Pack it tight.
Pour olive oil over the herbs to fill the jar. Don't use the expensive extra vrgin olive oil (which is my favorite for cooking). Use a cheaper, second or third pess oil. It keeps longer. I think you may b able to use almond oil, avocado oil or fractionated coconut oil as well, but I'm not sure.
Let sit in a dark place fr several weeks.
Strain through cheesecloth, making sure to squeeze all of he oil out of thecheesecloth, becausemost of the bst suff is in there.
Usefor massage,etc.
There is a nw blog that explins a lot of this. I will post the address when I find it.
As or essential oils, these are really hard to make at home. For example, it takes 2 tons of rose petals to make one pound of rose essential oil. I don't have the room or equipment and tim for all tha. So, I fork out the bucs for good quality essental oils. One drop of these goesa very long way, so th benefitsare actually inexpensive when you price them out by the drop.0 -
So that explains the expense! Thanks so much!:flowerforyou:0
