First week in a while I haven't had a set training plan to follow, but I've only got 4 weeks until I officially start my marathon training plan, so I'm going to enjoy the freedom for a bit.
Did some light elliptical today, spinning tomorrow, and running weds/thursday. The distance will probably be based on how I feel this week.
Happy Monday folks!0 -
Not a lot this week. Hopefully 11-12 miles tomorrow and 23 the day after. Maybe if I'm lucky and the weather holds out I'll get a second 11 mile run in on Friday, but its been pretty nasty lately, and I have final papers/projects due in both of my classes next week.0

Well I was going to do a couple short 4-5 mile runs this week to gear up for my 13.1 run in Las Vegas on Sunday *but* last night at Zumba I pulled something in my hip and while it is not painful, I do have a constant dull ache ~ not too happy about this! Going to try and book a massage for today or tomorrow and hopefully that will help...sigh! I hope it gets better by Sunday....13.1 miles is a long way to limp....!0

Had to cut my run about a mile short-my fingers started to hurt and then went numb. It was cold and rainy and I was kind of starting to worry about frostbite. Fortunately my in-laws live about a mile down the road and my father-in-law was able to drive me home. I was doing good until I took off my gloves at a break and got my hands wet, then it was all downhill. Still got about 11 miles done, though, and planning on 23 tomorrow, when its supposed to be nice and sunny.0

Yesterday I started with Yoga, Asylum Strength at Lunch, and Tai Chi at night. This AM I did Yoga X, I will run on the treadmill after work to work on speed, my goal is 10 min of treadmill, 5 hill repeats on super steep hill, and 10 min of cool down on treadmill. Tomorrow, I Asylum Back to Core, Phyiscal Therapy and Tai Ci. Thursday a Tempo Run, Friday - Asylum , and Saturday a long run. Thanksgiving I did 15 miles and I may do another 15 on Saturday or only do 8, not sure yet since I'll be traveling out of town.0

Gearing up for a 23 mile run today. This will be the first long run of done the day immediately after another run (yesterday was 11 miles) in prep for the back to back races at Disney. Worried about my legs being tired, but not afraid to walk some, especially on some of the huge hills. More worried about working all night tonight after running all day today, 5-6 hours of running before a 12 hour **** is a lot!0

Mikey - what were the eggs for?
Skemery - you are seriously hardcore! I would never run 5 hours before a 12 hour shift! Get it!!0 -
Mikey - I'm curious too - what were the eggs for?
Skemery - how did the run and then work go? You may want to read on the Marathon Nation website the article on splitting your long run days into two workouts due to the length of time on your feet. It's made for people that run at slower paces. Its and interesting read.0 -

Work went pretty good actually, very little stiffness or soreness, which was awesome. I'll check out that article, but a lot of days I lose my motivation to run after 15-20 miles, doing one long run means I'm far away from my house when that happens, so I have no choice but to finish up.0 -
Wow Skemery you have hard core determination!! Go girl!!
I have been working on my pace the last few weeks and I am very proud of my times! I did a 4.82 run yesterday and my pace was 9.16 and I wasn't uncomfortable at all, could have pushed myself harder. I haven't had a pace below 10 in weeks! Tomorrow plan on 7 miles. My next half isn't until March 31st so I'm keeping my long runs shorter so I can work on my pace. I want to have a better pace the next half.0 -
I am jealous of all your runs. I am still sitting on the sidelines as my tendinitis won't let up. I have been doing all cross training and weight lifting.
keep up all the good work0 -
Kind of excited for tomorrows run... doing the "Atlanta Running tour" which is a 6 mile guided running tour through the city!0

That sounds like fun!! Enjoy!! We had 4 inches of snow over the night and its still snowing! We never get snow here in West Texas and its so pretty! I can't wait to run in it this afternoon. I had a good run Saturday, I ran 8 miles @ a 9.26 pace. I never run longer runs at that kind of pace. I hope I can keep it up for the next longer run.0 -

You are my hero! I am tackling my first full next fall and then hoping in Jan 2014 (giving myself one more year to get in another full and some halfs for training) to do the Goofy! As I live in MI - I also need the time to save $ for the trip. You are an inspiration- I love finding people on MFP with similar goals!

The eggs were an exercise in not tensing your hands when running fast - basically you have to do multiple sets of 80%+ exertion runs and not crush them0
