Ok, so, it seems the vote is split, but, considering the original inspiration (AKA @ Ecmcnamee) is intrigued by hundred pushups dot com, as am I, and I THINK this is perfect for almost all of us (based on what people have mentioned), I think that's the best route to go.

This explains the program.
Please complete the initial test by Monday. Be sure to write that number down. Determine which level of the program is appropriate for you.
On Monday, December 5, we will get started with the actual challenge, determined by your own personal test. It is set up for 3 days a week. These are the days you choose, but, you need to complete 3 days.
Log these days, and this workout, in your diary so we can see that you are completing it (I'm working on being a hard *kitten* - go with it!).
Remember to follow the plan, and rest in between sets, so as to avoid injury.
And, most importantly, BUILD THOSE MUSCLES and support each other!
I'll start a topic to share progress. There we can share our fit test results, which level of the program we are doing, and how each workout goes.
Ready? GO!

I'm weirdly excited!!0

I tried the test last night, I did ok considering I'm not doing "girly" style. Bring it on! My arms and shoulders better be bangin' after this!0
-
I am doing the test today! My arms are not very strong so I may be doing the girly push up (lol) I have to try to keep up with you young ladies ! Just Saying I will be 50 years old on my next Birthday my real goal was to be off meds for BP & Chol and lose some inches and lbs !!0
-
I'm so in for this challenge!! Just got through reading all the topics and I'm excited to get going on this! I've been doing at least 25 consecutive push ups a day for about a month, so I'll probably be following column 3. I'll get the fit test done today!! YEAH, so pumped!0
-
i'm so excited...i did this 100 push up thing back in september and go to week 4...my profile picture is from when I just stopped that!
Again, please do not go "girly" push ups! They won't help your strength as much as doing regular push ups at an incline (hands on a stair, table, wall, bench, etc.)!0 -
Me too! My client did it last year and by God, she did 100 push ups! I can do 3 strict pushups! That's going to change!0
-
I'm going girly on y'all! Will transition, but gotta start with what I know I will do. I'm gonna try the knucle thing first because wrist pain is a lot of my issue. Testing tonight!0
-
Bumping this up for some that didn't see it!0

Also, it seems there is debate on how to do the initial test. The vote has been that the test must be real, honest to goodness, military push ups. That seems the best way to really assess your true ability. From there, we suggest using an incline of some kind to build strength, not doing them on your knees!0
-
Wow okay scratch the 7 I posted earlier. I'll re-test tonite and post my results. I'm guessing its going to be like 2 lol.0
-
Any suggestions on what kind of an incline to use for the pushups if modified (knees) aren't the best? hmmm....I have a bench that sits up about 2 feet high...wonder if that will work. I'll go check.0
-
That could def work - many have suggested using stairs and starting up higher and then going down, step by step, as you build strength0

OK, clearly, resistance is futile. I have caved, and here I am. Gonna try to complete my test today or tomorrow. Have downloaded the app on my iphone, but don't know if that was necessary.:drinker:

Ummmm, my *kitten* CLEARLY did not fully read anything. So I did my test real style and will take Beth's stair suggestion. I'm gonna try to stay in it if my poor arms will let me!
Maybe I can substitute something out of my lifting workout to put my pushups in...
I was doing 30 modified (knees), so maybe I can do fewer on the stairs while I strengthen my arms.
Love you Beth and Savannah for always pushing me!0 -

Just don't drink so much water you piss yourself while doing your pushups! :devil:0 -

Try putting your feet on a coffee table and your hands on the ground so you're doing them kinda upside-down. This will help heaps with building upper arms strength.

You betcha ... that's how I started out and I occasionally go back to that .. the lowest step you aren't that far off the floor and they kill me0 -
I don't understand why knee push-ups don't count? The website says they are fine, and they are really hard for me. I can't even do one military style one. I have no stairs, and my coffee table is glass. If knee push-ups disqualify me from this challenge, then I will have to do it on my own. Not trying to be a pain, but I know my own fitness level. :blushing:0

They're fine - it's just been recommend that an incline helps build your strength/stamina and is better. You do what is best for you and we'll cheer you on!0 -

Don't worry Joni you're not alone. I too will be doing them the "girl way." I can only do half of a push up the military way lol! Once I get to 50 girl push ups I am going to start incorporating military push ups and work my way up. I'm all for challenges I just don't want to over push myself and end up getting hurt.0

Totally agree. Maybe we can do the challenge again with "real" ones after this!0
