Pride in wrinkles.

So I've lost 45 of the 210 lbs I want to lose and there's not a whole lot of visual difference. But the big thing I do notice is that I am gaining a 'turkey neck'. You know, wrinkly. Which means that my major double chin is turning to a minor double chin and the skin, well, isn't going along so well.

Now, I probably wouldn't think so much about this but my job means that I have a mirror at the side of my desk so I can see myself frequently during the course of the day. And this has managed to make my wrinkly skin somewhat of an obsession with me.

I'm proud of those wrinkles. i don't know what other people think when they see them, but I know what they mean. They mean success. And I'm kind of looking forward to getting more of these wrinkles.

This, in turn, has got me to thinking about overall success. I'm not young at almost 49, my skin doesn't have the resiliency of youth, so what happens the more weight I lose? How long will I be proud of my wrinkles? How much will my skin rebound? What to do if it doesn't.

I did look into the plastic surgery possibilities, just online because it's so far in the future.

But I'm wondering if anyone has experiences with this, or has been thinking about it as well.

We must be thinking alike. Last week I set up a savings account for just that. Every time I loose weight I put $5.00 in the account. Everytime I have money left over from my weekly allowance I put it in the account. I figure that by the time I lose my 200# I will have a good start with Plastic Surgery Account.

From what I've read on the subject, much of the loose skin is actually still fat. Dieting is going to alter your body composition - there's no way to lose 200lbs without losing some muscle along with it. Obviously there will be some loose skin after losing the amount of weight most of us in this group need to lose, but I gather much of it can be sorted with toning via strength training. I also understand that the skin will gradually tighten up over time, though maybe not completely.

Personally I'm hoping I can avoid surgery! I'm 30, so not too old (but not young!) and I'm quite tall so my weight is fairly spread out. I do have a big belly though so I think that will be the problem area for me.
