Eating Out on Cycle One?

Hi All,
I'm C1D5 and I'm traveling this weekend for work and I'll be staying in a hotel and I don't have access to a stove but I do have a microwave and refrigerator. When going out to dinner is it ok if I have salads with just vegetables and light or fat free dressing or olive oil in moderation? Would a salad from Wendy's, Arby's or McDonalds be ok if I be careful of what inside of the salad? I still plan on working out and getting my servings of yogurt each day but I'm concerned with eating salads from fast food restaurants and restaurants in general.

Do you have the MFP app on your smartphone? It's invaluable for eating out.
When I travel, I scan the map of the area on Google to see what restaurants are in the area. Then I look up their menu items using the MFP food database. Many, MANY of standard restaurant items are listed.
In general, a salad could be good, but low-fat does not mean low-calorie. And definitely does not mean no-sugar.
My mom took me to her favorite restaurant for lunch back this summer. I can't remember the name of the franchise, but it had Bahama something in the title.
Anyway, she was raving about this "wonderful, healthy fish salad" that she gets every time she is there.
I looked it up on MFP --- 1200 calories for that salad!!! She had no clue. Fortunately, she could use the calories, so I didn't go into it with her. But I ordered something else that was under 500 calories.
Researching your options ahead of time for the various common chain restaurants is a good way to prepare.
Some of the places I travel had nothing more than Bojangles or KFC nearby. But I found foods even there that I could manage with without sabotaging myself.
It's funny - salads should be healthy for you, but since so many people actually hate vegetables, they add a lot of unhealthy stuff to it just to make it palatable.
Another suggestion: Buy some packets of acceptable dressing and take them along.
Good luck! I know you're working hard at this.. I've seen your recipe posts.0
