This is more of a rant than a debate, but I think these Airforce personel should have one limb amputated to be given to a combat vet who lost theirs in combat. Then we can take some pictures and have a big laugh. What a bunch of sickos.

Sorry Adrian, freedom of speech still applies even if someone is being an offensive *kitten*.
Amputation for offending someone sounds like a bit of a slippery slope, don'tcha think? Otherwise, we'd have a lot of hop-alongs, eh?0 -
Well I agree about freedom of speech for our citizens, these are military personel. And to be blatantly poking fun of dead and dismembered soldiers when chances are the people in this photo are desk Jockeys is reprehensible. Besides, in the military, you have no freedom of speech. Not on these matters. If anything, they should let a platoon of Marines or Army soldiers who actually left the base and saw combat beat the piss out these people.0

I'm not sure I even understand the joke behind the pic. What point are they trying to make?0

They are saying dump to dumbst or whatever, making fun of the fact that the Airforce just got busted throwing the severed limbs and body parts of deceased and dismembered soldiers into landfills, or dumps.0 -
they didn't throw any body parts away, they disposed of some ash remains. By sending them to a landfill.0

Same thing. Besides, I have nothing but comtempt for these scumbags.
A: For being douches.
B: And maybe more importantly, for being dumb douches. Really....you are going to take a picture that ridiculous on a digitial camera and circulate it? Their commanders are going to scalp them.0 -
Poor taste? Yep. Gallows humor? Yep.
Cut their limbs off? Lighten up.0 -
The unit in the picture is from an Education and Training Command in Texas, where the improperly disposed of remains is in Delaware. The picture was taken approximately two months before the story in Delaware broke.

I don't believe it really has anything to do with the improper disposal of remains. It looks to me like a bunch of Airmen wanting to feel good about their unit of badass aircraft loaders. Remember, most of our troops are very young and often exhibit immature behavior. I can't even remember all of the stupid crap I've done in my late teens/early twenties.0 -

If this is indeed true, then I concede. The way the story was presented, I thought the picture was recent. As far as being young and dumb...forgivable, but not as a NCO, which I think some of these people are.0 -

Wait, I take my concession back and now only half concede. You are correct about the picture being from before th dumping scandal....but they are still poking fun at dead soldiers. So I alter my previous statement of amputating their limbs, I now think they should have be punished....harshly.0 -
i dont think its funny, but i dont think people should be punished for making a bad taste joke0

i'm not even sure i get what the joke is. the caption added to it isnt necessarily the work of the people in the pic, anyone could have added that after, the internet is full of people doing thatl . is that a real corpse? they arent goofing around or laughing, they all look pretty solemn to me. i'll lay off amputating them til they explain the purpose of this pic.0

Has anyone else read the comments on the story? If anyone here can verify this information please feel free but here a few comments that were posted with an alternate explanation. It doesn't mean that it is any less tasteful but I would be curious to know if the pallets mentioned in the comments do actually make this noise. I will say that the rope around the "dead" soldiers neck is not a noose as the article states. It's not tied correctly to be a noose.
Comments from article with a different explanation:
"The floor of the C130 can be covered with rollers and every pallet Ive moved on C-130s or C-17s has made a da dumpt sound. If a heavy pallets rolls into you, it could crush you. Its safety and humor. Crossed arms means "Stop." Has nothing to do with casualties of war."
"Anyone "outraged" over this has never been on a loaded C-130. Pallets make the da-dumpt sound and crossed arms is the signal for stop."
"It is not a noose. It is a mooring line used to tie cargo down."0 -

Military personnel are held to a different standard. This was on the job and behavior that is not acceptable of any armed forces. They should be dishonorably discharged.0
