So, I've been reading a lot about going paleo/primal, and how great it is. However, it doesn't seem to be easily compatible with vegetarianism... what are your thoughts about this? Have you tried it?

I am not sure how you could live without grains and dairy (I assume eggs would be allowed unless you are vegan?)

    Is cooking allowed?

This could be very close to a simian diet. Human evolution means that it is very tough for H. sapiens to survive on a simian diet.

Neither could I! Or sugar, or butter, or white flour, or pasta, or beef, or even whole grain Triscuits! But I feel SO MUCH better! And yes it is a learning process. I dont' know about everyone else here, but I cannot just STOP old habits and START new ones. It is taking me time to adjust. And looking at my diet you will not call me a "vegetarian" or "vegan". But I feel so much better by adding tons of raw and cooked veggies and fruits to my diet. The book that got my attention was Eat to Live by Dr. Joel Fuhrman. Yes, I don't like the inhumane treatment of animals, etc. but I am in this for my own health. I don't have any diagnosed diseases yet (aside from hypothyroid) and I'd like to up my chances considerably by not getting any!

And honestly, I have not studied up on Paleo or Primal, nor do I find a reason to. This diet plan (Eat to Live) speaks to me on bringing ultimately the best health to my body and I do intend to follow for life and it is all about eating the most nutritious foods on the planet: greens, veggies, fruits, beans, nuts, seeds, small amounts of grain, small amounts of animal proteins if desired. Just my chosen path. You need to find a diet/lifestyle that speaks to you. Best of luck to you!

I'm allergic to grains and dairy, so yeah, it can be done. I am not paleo, I still get plenty of starch with root vegetables, buckwheat, and quinoa.
