Plan of Attack for Holidays

What's your plan?
Some people omit foods, some count calories, some weigh portions, some do portion control, some take a vacation from it ALL and binge. That last one is the most dangerous one. The hardest time to get back on a healthy track is when you've just indulged in a food scavenger hunt.
Yup, that's the best name for it "Scavanger Hunt". You eat everything you see then you look for more. Noooooo scavanger hunts this holiday please.
I'm not going to omit foods but I will do calorie counting. With calorie counting portion control comes naturally. I mean, there's just so much food you can fit in a 1300 ca a day diet.
This worked for me very well for Thanksgiving. The night before I went to my food bank and calculated a full traditional Thanksgiving meal. It was a horrific 1000 calories. I had to plan the rest of my day around that one meal. I created a light brunch for the remaining 300 calories that were available to me. But it turned out so much better to be able to participate in the entire traditional meal than to have to omit foods.
I'm already planning out my Noche Buena (Christmas Eve dinner) meal. And this traditional meal is very high in calories so I have very few available during the day. I've already put in many of the expected foods like the Spanish turrones (nougat confections). They are about 100 calories a piece. And my mom's delicious mojo is a whopping 90 Calories for 2 tablespoon. So I've cut out the rice and reduced serving sizes. I planned a boiled egg white instead of my usual fried egg for breakfast. And for lunch I will have a fruit. No egg nog for me this year. I just don't have enough calories left.
