Hi everyone!!! I am so excited we got a team!
My name is Rebecca. I am 31-years-old and live in Chattanooga, TN. I am a single, solo parent to my 4-year-old son Micah.
I began my lifestyle change for a second time in June 2011. The first time I made this journey, I did it through diet alone (doctor's orders), but this time I am determined to be fit when I am done! This will also be the LAST time I travel this road. My favorite exercise is Zumba - I take a class 3 to 5 days per week - but running is becoming a close contender! I am working on completing the C25K program (just finished week 6!) and have just completed my 2nd 5K (at a pace of 6.0 mph!). This coming year, I am looking to run a 10K by the end of the spring and a half marathon in October.
During this challenge, aside from working on my fitness goals, I am hoping to lose 25.5 to 34 pounds (1.5 to 2.0 pounds per week). My beginning weight for the challenge (from the "Starting Information" thread) is 188.2, which, assuming I hit my goal, should put me at 162.7 to 154.2.
I am looking forward to getting to know everyone!!!0 -
Yay! Also VERY excited to see we have a team now! Really looking forward to the motivation from everyone As well as sharing it!
My imagination is flawed... when it comes to usernames haha... so yeah, my username is my real name Nice to meet ya!
I'm 34, happily married for 10 yrs now with a 10 yr old son. I work full time in the IT industry as a Systems Admin... and I'm addicted to my new healthy lifestyle! I'm an avid gym goer who loves circuit training, cardio, kickboxing and jogging! My gym schedule tends to be a solid 5 days on at the gym with 2 rest days.
I began my weight loss journey in March of 2010 at a high of 350lbs... one year and 9 months later I'm down to 198! I just hit wonderland last week and it was such a HUGE milestone for me! I blog from time to time so look me up and don't forget to send me a friend request!
I've got another 18lbs to go before I hit what I set as a "goal weight" when I first started... now that I'm so close... I'm rethinking that number Would love to see 175! oOoOoOo That would be the smallest I have been as an adult!
Here we go team! Let's get er done!!0 -
I am looking farward to this challenge. I lost about 30 pounds a few years ago and gained it back would like to lose that and some more. I have lost 10 pounds so far. Made some changes in how I eat and going to gym as much as I can, right now about 4-5 times a week. Glad to be apart of this team. I hope we all can encourage each other and reach our goals and might as well win this thing while we are at it.0

Congratulations on your loss and your one-derland milestone!! What an inspiration! I have no doubt that you will reach 175!I am looking farward to this challenge. Way to go on your loss so far! It is frustrating to restart from the beginning (I did too!), but at the same time, we *know* we can do this!!!0 -
I snagged the below image from the net. If you want to add it to your ticker, you can right click, select "save image as...", save to your desktop, then personalize your ticker, and upload the image.

LOVE the ticker!! Grabbing it now!!0
-
You guys will need to come up with a team name and have your own ticker. I am having people shy away from the biggest loser ones because of the colors.0
-
Hey everyone, so excited to get started. any ideas on a name?0
-
hi everyone!! glad we all are a part of such an amazing journey..... heres a little about me...
im 30 years old with 3 boys ranging from 13-1.
i have been battling with weight since my middle child(my 2 year old). I gained about 50 pounds with him. alot of it did come off, but then 6 months after he was born i was pregnant again, causing weight to be gained on top of the baby weight i was still trying to lose.... then 6 weeks after i had my last son i had to have hernia surgery, so again another 6 weeks of no major activity..... and the pounds pack on....
then when i went back to the doctor just a couple of months ago for more refills on my blood pressure meds.... she had seen that i had gained 4 pounds in 4 months. considering she knows my goal of eventually wanting to come off of my bp meds, she said if i didn't lose 10 pounds by jan 9 when i see her again, she was enrolling me in a weightloss program of her own..... EYE OPENER!!!
Since november.... i have lost 6 pounds, but i know I wont lose the other 4 before I go back, but what I am hoping is that she will see the results so far and find the need to not enroll me because i am losing. Once I reach my ideal weight, which is 123(the high end) then she will reconsider me being on my meds, with the proper blood work results of course....
So I am in this journey for medical reasons, healthy lifestyle for my kids reasons, and I just want to be in the shape i was in when I was in HS when I could out run the boys and do more push ups and pull ups than them.... awww those were the days.... 14 years ago I know but still it was a great feeling!!!
Outside of that... i love being a mom and watching my little ones grow... I am a manager of a fast food restaurant which i seriously want to change within the coming year but its also something that I have been doing since I got out of high school and always seem to resort back to it.
I really look forward to working with all of you and feel free to add me as a friend..... we all need to work together as a team to win this!!!0 -
I personally like our ticker as is, but I'm up for change if other's do not agree. I also don't mind just being called the "Tangerine" team... as I'm used to that from watching the biggest loser... teams by color name etc..
I did a quick google search for some funny names... and here are some that stuck out at me
Weapons of Mass Reduction
Will jog for Fries
The Meltaways
Workout Wonders
Muffin-top Stoppers
Excess Baggage Removers
Chunky Monkeys0 -
I like the ticker...but if we have to change it, I don't mind either...here's a little about me.
I'm Steph, 34 with 3 girls (5, almost 4 and 2)...single mom just getting back into working out since between my 1st and 2nd...so well over 4 years ago. My current weight is about 210 and I'd love to be at 175 (that's lower than when I got preggers the first time)....I'm sure I could be even lower than that, but I think I'll be happy at 175...we'll see when I get there.
I just joined a gym for my Christmas present to myself...and have gone 5-6 days a week for the past 2 weeks so far. I plan on continuing this journey 100%. I have also started the C25K on the treadmill, so it's not quite the same as being outside, but it will have to do for now since I can't run outside with 3 kiddos....
I look forward to working with all of you, can't wait to start this journey...and end it in such a better place!!!! I'm here to better myself, but also help you on your journey - we can do this together!0 -
Hey there! Its great to meet everyone! I'm Kristin, and I'm a med student. I lost 17 pound in the past year when I had been working but now that I'm back to school its been sedentary days, late nights studying, and lots of stress. I wanted to do this team to hold me accountable for making all the good choices in my power to do. I love this site and all you motivating people!
Right now I love doing classes a the school gym, some zumba and spinning. Or I try to jog/walk for a little. I just started the first week of C25k as well. I'd love to be able to run again. Every lecture I attend ends up in some way tying back to personal health, so its time to get my own personal health and fitness in order.
Oh, and look cute in a bathing suit. I'm very exited to be working with you guys! GO TANGERINE!0 -
If someone comes up with another idea for the ticker, feel free! I just grabbed this because of the color.
As for the team name...I was thinking of something that played off of our team color like The Tangelos or Trimming Tangelos or The Tangy Tangelos or something like that. Just ideas...0 -
Hi all! So happy to find out I have a team!
I am Sarah, 38 and lucky enough to be a SAHM, married for 9 years and have 2 boys - 7 and 4. I have discovered the Y in the last year and a half and go at least 5 days a week during the winter. I was naturally thin when younger, but never fit. In the last 3 years I have gained18lbs YUCK!! I think my age is really taking its toll. My goal is to lose 25lbs by eating healthy and continueing my workouts. I really feel like I have the fitness thing going for me, but not the DIET. I am way out of control sometimes and really live to eat, not eat to live. I need to change this. I already do a lot of healthy things (when I am being good) , but when I am bad , I am BAD. Usually weekends and adult beverages kill my whole week of workouts. Need motivation and healthy TASTY food ideas and also to be HONEST with myself! Glad to meet you all and look forward to working together!0 -
We need a captain (we may have one, working with Biggest_Loser_2012 to see if she can be added, her name is Mimi)...but if we can't get her added:
We need 2 volunteers...captain and co-captain.
I found this:
Here are some rules for contestants.
1. Each week, your team captain will come up with a challenge for you to do. TRY your best.
2. You need to submit your weight to your captain each week by Friday. Your captain has to post your info to the spreadsheet starting at 10pm each Friday. Your team captain will let you know exactly what time they would like your weights to them. If something happens to you, and they cant reach a scale, they must give your weights early.
3. If you go MIA, your captain will try to reach out to you, if you do not respond by the weigh in time, you will be moved to the "not the biggest loser" bracket.
4. I would like each team have the same ticker, but that is up to your and your team.
5. You also need to come up with a team name. This is due to me by December 31st, Please take a vote so everyone can have a voice.
6. There will be a challenge that I come up with each week. I will post it every Sunday, along with each teams challenge.
Our first weight in will be almost 2 weeks after we start, just so everyone can push a bit harder and get used to each team. Our first weigh in is January 13th 2012.
I have not decided how we will do eliminations. I am waiting to see how many people we have on each team. There will be challenges that have Immunity, lb advantages and disadvantages, etc.
Also, no one is truly eliminated. If you become "not the biggest loser" you will be in it for the "at home winner" and "fan favorite" (which will really just be the recognition!!) So please do not give up and keep pushing. The real reason we are all doing this is because we want to get healthier and be "BATHING SUIT READY!"
You will know who your team is this weekend and I will post something with each team. I will make each of you of a starting thread this weekend once I figure out your teams. I each of you to add each other and do another introduction here. As I said before, you will have a weekly blog, its best that you guys post on there a few times a week to encourage each other. This way its more private between teams0 -

Awesome ideas!!! Just one to add:
- Drink your water! At least 8 glasses, but preferably more!0 -
I was wondering... Do we want to create a group specifically for our team so it is easier to keep up with everything rather than searching through one thread? I am sure as the challenge gets started we will need to reference this group too.... Thoughts?0
-
Completely agree to a group page! Deff think it's needed, each week challenge should be a different post I imagine. I don't really have the time to focus on being a captain, but I would be more then willing to help as a co-captain.
Have any of you guys reached out to the other team members that haven't posted here yet? I'm going to after I post this0 -
Hi All!!!!
My name is Mimi. I'm the Captain of the Tangerine Team.
Sorry soooo late team. I left the challenge because I was told it was closed. I could not get in after being placed on a team because the challenge is now private. Thanks Steph for the invite.:flowerforyou:
Alittle about me...I'm married to a wonderful guy for 19 years and we have 2 kiddos. DD is 16 y.o. and ds is 12 y.o. I started gaining weight after the birth of our daughter but things took a turn for the worst when we moved to Texas almost 3 years ago. Mexican/Tex-Mex food is my major weakness. I gained 40lbs in less than 3 years of moving here. I'm a member of another forum's Biggest Loser 12 week contest that started Sept.21-Dec.17 During that challenge I lost 30lbs!!!!! I only have 68lbs more to go. *Happy dance*
I'll create a group and send invites to all Tangerine members tonight.
4 Needs:
~I love the challenge ideas you guys are coming up with. Keep them coming.
~Also I need a co-captain asap. Any volunteers? Please!!!!!!
~We need a name for the team. Just throw out your suggestions here or the group thread no later than Thursday 7pm cst I'll make a list. Afterwards you can just pm me your vote by Friday 1pm cst.
~Submit your weight to me by Friday noon cst that way I can get everything together on the spreadsheet in a timely manner. PST folks I know that is going to be 10a for you, if it's too early you can submit them to me on Thursday if you prefer.
Welcome everyone, introduce yourselves and let’s get ready to do this!0 -
You got it Carrie!!!! Thanks so much:flowerforyou:0

No problem! Happy to help!
I just sent a message to each user whom I didn't see an intro here from. Some have already read it so hope to see some new faces soon!
Very excited for this challenge and getting to know everyone0 -
I was just curious; with christmas approaching this weekend. How is everyone? Are you looking forward to food, friends, and family. I know alot of people stress this time of year but I always enjoy this time of year get to see family I don't get to see alot and we actually get along and have a great time to gether. So are you going to try to be good or our you going to wait until the first to crack down on this challenge. I know sometimes around holidays it can be harder to eat good with all this food in your face. I have not decided if I am going to do at our big get together. Just food for thought. What are you going to do this christmas weekend. Endulge and pick up where you left off. I have not decided yet. All i know is we are going to rock this challenge.0

Hello everyone my name is Cameron and I am 26 years old. I have been married for a year and half and we don't have any kids yet. I have struggled with me weight for my entire life. Food has definitely always been my comfort but I am ready to make a big change. Back in June I had a big scare and was admitted to the hospital with 2 pulmonary embolisms. Having the doctor tell me that I was lucky I got there when I did because I could have died was very scary. I realized that I have never really felt healthy or happy with my body. I stop myself from doing a lot of things I would like to because of my weight and I don't want to miss out on everything I want to do because I'm not comfortable in my own body. I have a little over 100 pounds to lose and I am really excited about this challenge because I think it will give me the jump start I need and keep me accountable for my progress. I am really looking forward to being on this team0

I am super excited to do the biggest loser with the Tangerine team and am confident we are going to kick butt!0
