I miss the weekly run chat threads. Here is one for today..
I woke up to a beautiful morning here in NS. The water is flat calm and the sky is blue. Will definitely be running today. I know that by the time I get out there the wind will pick up some, it always does. Not sure how far I'll go, I am hoping for 10K maybe. more would be a plus, but I haven't done any big runs since probably October or early November.
Who else is running today? How far? Whats your weather like? Hope it was a good one

Woke up and hit the pavement with my running partner in the dark this morning! It was our first "long" run of our 18 week marathon training plan. Amazing how now I'm disappointed when it's only 8 miles. TRUST ME. I used to wanna cry when 2 years ago my 1/2 marathon training plan said 8 miles....boy, what a difference 2 years makes. And I am grateful! Our 2nd marathon is the Pittsburgh marathon on 5/6/12 and I'm so excited.
Our run this morning was a beautiful as we were headed down a 2.5 mile stretch of road, headed east, we watched the sun rise. Something most other people missed today while they were in bed It was a tough, hilly route but we still averaged 10:12 pace and we're pleased with that.
I do hope you all enough a great run today and have a fabulous weekend!0 -
Hey - I am also in NS! There is no blue sky on this end. No idea how cold it is yet. Still in my pjs.
Today was my scheduled "long run" , 7 miles. I have been feeling a cold coming on all week and woke up to it sitting on my chest. I would normally run through a head cold but I find it hard to breathe. I may wait and see how I feel later. I'm definitely bummed to miss my run.0 -
6 miles with my husband this morning. high 50s-low 60s today. I was hot before we hit the 1 mile mark! It's crazy because this time last year we were running in snow and barely 20 degrees! Today shorts and tees and hot!!
He is increasing mileage for our upcoming half marathon. I'm running one in Feb and he's joining me for a 2nd in April. I felt terrible only doing 6 today since I ran 8 for my long run last weekend and turned around and ran 4 on Sunday but I hit weights pretty hard this week so I am going to tell myself it's ok.
Hope everyone had a great run today!0 -
So I ended up only going 8K, instead of 10K. Oh well, 8 is better than none, right? lol Ended up with an average pace of 6:04min/km. Thats not bad for me.
lisalu - good for you planning a marathon. I have done 2 half-marathons, and just can't imagine a full. My husband has done a lot of them, but I figure a half is good for me. hehe Sounds like a beautiful early morning run.
3dogsrunning - its not often that I "run" into people on here from NS! I am down on the southwestern tip, near Yarmouth. Our blue skies did turn a bit grey for awhile, but the blue did come back. I hope you are feeling better, there seem to be a lot of nasty colds going around here. Fortunately....so far I have stayed clear of them.0 -
Kimertruns13.1 - it is crazy here too, not quite shorts and tee's, but I did get hot during my run....and I didn't wear my sunglasses so the sun was in my face on the way out. Hmmm...maybe I'll blame that on only getting 8K in instead of 10. hehe Have a great half!0

I'm on the other end, but I was down your way this summer for the first time. My mother in law is living down that way. Beautiful, I loved it. Your right, 8 is better than nothing.
I am not going to push it today. Going to take a rest day and hopefully feel better enough to get it in tomorrow.0 -
Did my 20 mile training run in 50 degree overcast. perfect. It's all downhill from here.0

i don't know how far i went today- i can't measure it because it was a trail run through the bush- a place called totara park in manukau, auckland, new zealand. i ran with a friend for the 1st time- usually i'm a solo runner, and have never really felt confident enough to run with others because i'm so slow and still really chubby!
but i do know that i ran for 75 mins. there were some really tough hills, 2 sets of 100 steps (plus more, but they weren't as long), and a lot of running. we did a few fartleks too- mainly just because you couldn't not do them! i loved it- it was really refreshing having someone else there to talk with, to push me, to teach me, and to run somewhere i've never gone before. i always run wearing an ipod, but today i didn't for the first time.
the weather was overcast and it rained occassionally, which was super. it's about 20 degrees (i think that's probably about 70 in US terms).
i'm tired now. the muscles up the backs of my thighs and in my bum are aching- but it's a great feeling. i can't wait to go back next week.
my long run will be on tuesday this week, and it's a 12 miler- ugh!0 -
Me and my buddy did an easy 4 miles outside today in 28 degree weather. No ipods of gps watches just running and catching up.0

Got up for a 5K run, my son's girlfriend's 1st race. I had signed her up for it and afterward she was looking for more to do... she's hooked Was surprised to have almost 50 degree weather... on Jan. 7... Wow.
After the race I came home and headed straight out for 21 miles on the bike, so nice to get out! Tried to take it a bit easy on the bike as I have my own 5 mile race tomorrow.
lisalu: I'll be doing the full Pittsburgh as well, it's a great run, and will be my 4th.0 -
It's been unseasonably warm here, but yesterday and today my fingers got numb with the cold, and yes, I was wearing gloves. Will have to start wearing warmer ones again! Or run faster, I've been going slow because I'be been running with my husband.

8 miles stepback today, should take about a hour and i conveniently have a new hour long mix to listen to. Cya later!0

I was feeling a little better today so I went out. 7 miles done. It was just above freezing and drizzling a little. The sidewalks were pretty slushy. I chose a route that had less traffic and wide roads so I could run on the road most of the time.0

Had no intentions of running today, but when I got up and looked outside, I had to go. Not a breath of wind, blue skies, simply gorgeous for January. Whats going on? Lol So, I got ready and went out for 6K. Maybe still do some strength exercises later. When is winter?????0

I ran 7 miles on Friday - it was a gorgeous, sunny and unseasonably warm day. Loved it! Did a spin class followed by body pump yesterday (Saturday) morning and it wiped me out, so I'm taking today off. Probably will go run a few miles tomorrow, though, it's supposed to be nice again.0
