I am a 45 year old female and have just received a diagnosis of MS or other demyelinating disease this month :frown: I have a lesion in my spinal cord that was biopsied Nov 16 because they weren't able to determine what it was. I am still recovering from that. I wont see the MS specialist until Feb 7th and have no idea what to expect. I saw this group and hoped to find a little support for both my weight loss and disease. I want to shed about 25-30 lbs but am not able to excercise much more that slow walking with the right side numbness. I look forward to meeting you all :flowerforyou:

I am sorry I am just now getting back to you, weekends aren't my best time to get on the computer. (:
I am also sorry to hear about your possible diagnosis. Unfortunatly I think everyone ends up waiting months to see the neurologist or at least everyone I have talked to has (and personel experience).
All I can say is with a positive attitude it will get better. I was rock bottom until about 3 months ago, I thank god for every day I can feel my feet touch the floor & every day I can walk.
I know everyones diagnosis & symptoms are different & life can change for us drasticly in a split second but keep faith, regain your health with good nutrition, exercise, dont stress the small stuff & appreciate each and every day.
Support groups are huge at least you are in the rght direction of wanting to talk. There are a few folks in our group that have been dealing with MS for years hopefully they do reply to you as well. I am a little over a year.
Eliptical machines are good (bikes) or even some of the weight machines. Avoid the high fat foods & loads of bad carbs doughnuts, cookies, pies. I stick with a fairly strict diet you are able to view if you want I have been fortunate enough to work with a trainer. I can elaborate on some of the exerciese if you want as well.Push yourself to do at least 30 minutes a day, you wont regret it.
Take care of yourself!!!!

My husband had numbness in his face and left side and I convinced him to finally go to the Dr. They told him they thought it was a stroke and had an MRI done that week in may the next week we had a phone call saying it was Ms go to neurologist... my husband had no clue what it was. He is a bigger man and has been trying to lose weight also and has cut out soda to start and cut back on portion size. Good luck on your weight loss journey and also with everything else!!!0

Thank you. I got a call yesterday and got in to see the new neurologist today because someone cancelled. This doc doesn't think I have MS at all. This is the way this has been going. You have this... no you don't... you have that... no you don't... It's almost comical. However, this doctor is ready to try a treatment to see if it is what he thinks it is (idiopathic myelitis). So I will be leaving the group unless we get an actual dignosis of MS. Thanks for the sweetness0
